Unfollow every PoE streamer except one.

Nah, just buyout Path of Building and stop further development.
The creator of this thread is simply begging for ban .

Sorry to hear that you weren't rank 1 on Ruthless.
And that GGG still isn't paying you

Life is just not fair sometimes.
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
Lol.

I got some neat shit for my birthday but this thread should have come with a bow.
The name says it all.

I would never watch a "streamer" because I want to play (not watch someone play). But, I consider the content providers in YouTube who put out great educational content to be a tremendous asset to the game. More players = better leagues for everyone.
Agreed. If a streamer happens to make good content/structured videos, fine and well.

I'm still not inclined to watch them go through the arduous process of getting to a point where they can make said high quality videos.

Things are more 'a work in progress' now than ever before, and I feel we've lost some appreciation for waiting for the final product as a result of not just what is 'included' but also 'what is left out'. Even the term 'content' has this implication not a well-made product but simply 'stuff' that is consumed and cast aside. A guide for the latest meta that will be far less useful a few updates later; a review for a Service game that will probably be redundant in a year or two.

And absolutely this lack of appreciation for a finished product goes for PoE as a whole, which almost certainly will never be a final product. Which is great for the incessant consumers who inevitably develop a taste for quantity over quality, but leaves those craving the stability of a well-made product wanting.

I suppose that's part of why I can't do this game anymore. It feels like an eternal Work In Progress and all I'm really interested in seeing is what sort of masterpiece GGG could make if they'd put as much work into leaving things out as putting them in. And no, sadly I don't mean Ruthless -- that wasn't a leaving things out so much as spacing them out, which provides a neat illusion of something new but doesn't have that tight, taut feeling you get from a properly made product. Ruthless doesn't cut away the fat to leave only a nice juicy steak; in the end, it's just skim milk.

So playing PoE is not entirely unlike watching someone PoE to me -- you spend a lot of time waiting for the good stuff to happen, and when it does it's less a case of genuine happiness and more just a bump out of the doldrums. I do wonder if the appeal of watching streamers is that they're better than most at raising the floor of said doldrums...and people want to be able to say 'I was there' when something really extraordinary happens, something only a streamer has the resources and skill to pull off.

That might sound dismissive of non-streamers but the best player I ever met that no one knew about at the time (relatively no one; his guild knew very well how good he was) became a streamer the moment he was able to. I'll entertain the notion of there being some unknown geniuses at this game but not that many.

So just as I wait for streamers to make actually worthwhile videos with proper editing and user-friendly structure before giving their work much time or attention, I guess I'll wait for GGG to do the same with a game. I do not lack for other games that already do this -- because thankfully most devs still care more about delivering a final product than seeing if they can get people hooked on their game 'forever'.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
I did in fact prune out a bunch of streamers who went for the 6-8 ads at a time deal. I am all for streamers making money but lets be real if my background noise turns into an ad it is getting turned off and replaced.
I finally read (most) of the OP and actually agree with the OP: Zizaran does deserve your support if you are into supporting streamers. I only got to chat with him once but he was perfectly friendly and happy to waste his time on a know-nothing like me. I got a good vibe.

If there's any sort of drama beyond that regarding the fellow, I don't know it and I'm happy not knowing it.

Ziz is a hard no for me, absolutely can not stand listening to him talk, I just hate the way his voice sounds.

Oh, I've never actually heard it -- we chatted via text -- and I'd call that petty but there are definitely some people whose voices are a deal-breaker for me.

In fact, I think that's why I liked the internet to begin with. Why I STILL use it as a text-based medium when pretty much everyone else has gone and embraced the video nature of it. That always struck me as quite unattractive -- the whole point of the internet, for such a long time, was to give voice and sanctuary to people who struggled to do so in the normal ways.

Now it's just a lame extension of real life, with its talking heads and idiotfluencers.

Great for ordering shit though.
