Objectively the worst league?

I only started February , but its gone on a steady decline since i started thats for sure. That said after the horrendous start to Sentinel it turned into my favorite league by far but sadly they followed that up with the lake :(
There are multiple factors to consider here. Many already lost faith with the game because of the last league, so already fewer people willing to come back. Then there is burnout. Leaving aside, for a moment new players, most of the old ones are bound to get burned out. I've been playing this game for 10 years, it's only so much I can take each league.

And then we have the true issue: the league mechanic itself. When the league mechanic locks out entire skills and play styles, you sure as hell will see players quitting. I already stopped playing, and for the two weeks i did, I only attempted the Sanctum a few times. Melee just does not work in it; so no reason for many players to even try.

Please stop with this nonsense and misinformation. It's been proven time and time again that melee works in sanctum.

Source? Ive not seen anyone with any POE knowledge say melee works. You must be special. Now if you want to put 200 divines into a melee build you might meet with RF and or totems lol who used 10c

I have not actively avoided it per say, but you need a very specific type of build to do it. The problem I had was the very lack luster variety of builds that would actually have been good at Sanctum. I only have had one build I think that could do it, and everything as usual is gated by a very expensive weapon if you're not a caster. I should have rolled a minor, trap, or totem build.

Lots of posts in the interim, but I try not to ignore someone who took the time to respond to me directly. Thank you for building on my central point: the league mechanic is extremely polarizing. Certain builds make sanctum runs trivial while others are going to struggle massively even though they can run just about everything else easily.

Some parts of this game have become overly punitive in the past few years. GGG needs to decide what POE is and isn't, because this mix of ARPG, tower defense, roguelike, dancing simulator is unwieldy, and when this disconnect makes the league mechanic as messy as 3.20, it shows that the devs have lost control.

And now doubling down lol. Please make a vid of your amazing melee build well all wait. Then well look at cost of said melee build if its actually working and compare it to a 25 Chaos totem build thats doing 10000X more damage then you. We all wait for your glorious video. Take your time.

You don't even need to invest anything, just play summoner. As only damage against you counts, all you have to do is to hide behind a corner and watch your minions do the job for you.

Bosses are a bit tricky, because I guess GGG realized that many builds can cheese the encounters, so bosses cast through walls. But then just walk back and forth and eventually loot. Skelly Army was made for this!
Played Sweep, Minions and Vortex in that order all to the start of Red maps and done all sanctums on the way or ran the saved up ones later. All lvl 82-87 only.

Sweep - Mid Floor 3, using 4 link, no pob, no guide, no defences, no uber lab, no anoints, no enchants just bassline basics.

Minions - Cleared fake sanctum, same as above 4 link etc etc.

Vortex - Cleared fake sanctum, full blown META, guide, defences, damage, 4 and later a 5 link, no uber lab etc.

This was SSF playing very casually. For context 1-2 Acts a day and skipping a day here or there. If I had played Trade League like usual I would of had 6 links and more optimised gear earlier etc.

On top of this the content was nerfd but more importantly was the knowledge and experience I gained from trying the mechanic whilst on Sweep. Things like layouts, enemy patterns, gaining/using relics, boons/afflictions/dark pacts and having somewhat a decent strat/path to aim for.

And then you fight real Lycia and if you don't burn her down before she starts the lightning phase you autolose.
