New MTX get more and more slippery into P2W... Slowly but surely

Several MTX have already moved the visiual effect of something from the UI side to the middle of the screen on the Char.

Some even let you now get feedback when you block

And now you can see what typ of element did hit you by spending money.

Slipperly Slope anyone?
Used to be Chris who warned of those slopes regarding easier trade.
Guess with money to earn behind it, its not as bad?

Really not a fan of this trend

Very true. They need to be careful with dipping into the p2w pond. Most of these seems to be made with good intentions but it is a slippery slope indeed.
Aaaaaaaaand we go further down that SLIPPERY SLOPE

Core Supported Pack moves even more effects and stuff from the sideline/skillbar ON THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN.

I dont like it!

btw
dont get me wrong
Those effects absolutly have a right to be at this spot.
Just not only when you buy it with real money.

The Vaal one I could see a problem with.

Blocking is passive. You can't really do anything based on that and all the other effects are based on the player having already reacted to something. The CD wave feels like it would be more of a hindrance when including other visual clutter. Not something I think I'd rely on.

But yea, the Vaal ping is a bit of a problem.

Meh, just be richer. It's not *that* hard.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
As a secondary note. Much of this could be fixed with a UI updated for the last decade.

Even games in the 90's allowed you to move health bars, skill icons, cast timers, etc.

To this day EverQuest still has one of the most robust UI's in MMO history.

I will die on my traditionalist hill when it comes to arpg ui's. It might be old fashioned and made for a game from 1996, but if it ain't broke don't fix it i say.
On a more constructive note... couldn't adding a more "bland" toned down effect to the vaal skills themselves or something?
My most boring memories from mmorpgs is of feeling forced to sit for hrs making a UI so i could participate in activities efficiently. And i'm fairly certain having customizable ui would have to be taken into consideration when balancing the game itself. Because to be fair that would make the game a heck of alot easier.

Oh no way. the EeverQuest UI was amazing. Besides all the tweaks, moving and resizing they had theme support. You could then save each UI layout and load them just like an item filter.

You could theme your skill bar, your skill book, target windows, and CURSORS. It was fun.
...and I mean EverQuest was made in 1998. That's why I use it as a comparison. The UI is still high end even by today's standards.

In terms of easier. Sorta. Having hotkeys for ALT + T isn't much different IMO.

A similarly robust UI can fix problems like the current Voidborn overhead HP shown chest level. GGG wouldn't have to fix that if they had a better UI. I still play Diablo 1 without mods every few years so I get it but despite being the same genre this is a different animal.

+1 for Vaal off CD ping of some type.
