After I finished series #1 I tried stopping all downloads/uploads on other computers on the network. This fixed the problem. However, yesterday I tried severely limiting the other computer's bandwidth use, and it did NOT fix the problem. Is there any chance that this is being caused by some kind of routing conflict on my lan? Which ports does poe use? Is there a chance that some stuff from poe is being routed to the wrong computer? (I'm a bit out of my depth here, sorry if that's a stupid question.)

...

Also, while I was writing this post (during series #2), I got "An unexpected disconnection occurred" MANY times. About one every 3-5 minutes, but some were rapidly successive. This hasn't happened to me before, and again, this is with the poe computer having all available network bandwidth.

These sound like two separate issues. The first one reminds me of a problem another user had in this thread. They figured out that it was uTorrent's distributed hash table that was causing their lag spikes. I'm wondering if your problem is similar as it seems if your downloads are running even slowly (e.g. so a DHT or equivalent could be enabled) they cause problems. Another thing that was suggested in that thread was that the number of connections used by torrent programs can overload some routers/modems and cause them to have problems.

The second issue I believe relates to the MTR you emailed me, it looks like your route to our servers goes through a network that seems to be having issues - we're currently investigating this problem.

I can confirm that, i busted a few modems/routers by abusing torrents even if i had a 30 mbps connection 2 streets away from isp servers
