Is PoE a good Game for new Players?

Without a solid beginner and league starter guide a new player will just be lost.
And you have to use stuff like POB, so some homework befor you can even start playing…
Even though I agree, that PoE might scare new players because of it's skill and atlas tress.. and quite a steep learning curve because of the sheer extent of content.. I think regarding loot, progression, crafting etc... they have an advantage over veteran player... thay can actually play and learn the game, enjoy it... without having the constant urge to cry in the forums bgecause something changed. ^^
They arrive at the game at its current state. And if we all can be faior for a sec: It#s a good game.
New Player Dilemma:

1) The non-meta skill cool and fun to use... but not feasible for end-game content. +1 Frustration

2) Skill Passives and Atlas Passives is omg factor... either you dig the content or quit. If you don't do the guide +1 Frustration

3) You follow guides but you don't do trade league. +1 Frustration

4) Want to play HC? Everything will kill you. +20 Frustration

People always define "new players" as a newborn kitten when they talk about how "new player friendly" PoE is. And while PoE may not be your standard "holding your hand" kind of game with a rather screwed difficulty curve, some "new players" are actually seeking a non-holding hands experience.

Except literally PoE is not build a way for player to explore and try things on its own. You need to hold both of your hands, legs and head.

You need 3rd party tools like item filter/trading tool etc. to be able to play at least somehow reasonably, you need to study videos and wikis as the game explains nothing.

And still you will fight and doing fine and then suddenly die and you as a new player will have no idea what killed you. Over and over again.

You cannot try anything because changing skills/gems etc. mid-character leveling is extremely hard. It is not easy to respec a character or get a new set of gems of adequate level.

You are defining the "new player experience" from an endgame perspective. You do NOT need 3rd party tools outside of the standard item filter to explore the acts and beat the acts with a self-built build.

I totally agree with you: To get the most out of PoE, especially in endgame, you do need certain things. But I've been a new player myself, we've had several new players in our guild through the years - and lately, several streamers have tried PoE for the first time, doing their thing, exploring, learning and enjoying the game. You do not need to master the endgame to enjoy PoE.

Again; this isn't me saying that the new player experience (or the game as a whole) can't be improved, because that would be factually wrong.

Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

No, PoE is not a good game for new players.
PoE4life
For someone who is looking for Dark Souls experience - yes

For your typical gamer/ARPG fan - no

I don't think many gamers apart from that small group of souls-like masochists are looking to be ravaged by Rhoa in act I, then die another 500 times in acts due to unreasonable Archnemesis modifiers, only to end up in maps picking up 100 Blacksmith's Whetstones or 20 blue flasks.
Please don't listen to the negative hate spreaders who are angry with their personal experience this league.

People are angry with some of the changes and are basically trying to ruin the game they love.

PoE is a fantastic game and there's never a bad time to start. It isn't easy though, I'd recommend checking out a few of the new player videos on Youtube to get a basic understanding.

It is the best ARPG on the market and with enough effort and skill, isn't really that hard.
