Why is pathofmatth banned?

" Future idea to 'detox this community': have GGG reward us a free mtx box for every screenshot, audio or video recording proving a critic used a swearword against them anywhere on the planet in any situation to have him banned and muted. So every game related problem can remain untouched and the community is vastly entertained and rewarded. Last edited by AngryGekko#0233 on Aug 26, 2022, 11:30:20 AM

" 100% agree. A 1-strike policy may be easy to enforce, but it doesn't look like GGG has won anything by cancelling a passionate dude for three, four, maybe five words. Before that, PoM contributed in the last 3 years more *helpful* content/insight to the core part of the community than ggg. |

A lot of people who excuse PoM either don't know what he actually said or are toxic themselves. He said language that is, since we are not in 1950 anymore, not acceptable when describing people who provide a service that you use. Its not even acceptable use it to describe a person outside of your direct friend-group. It can be considered hate-speech, which is not protected in America, Australia, or other commonwealth countries (that the vast majority of us play from).
PoM has no grounds to fight the ban, not does he have any legal grounds to contest the loss of value to himself, his channel, or his account. Because he used speech that could be used to reasonably make a claim against himself. Banning PoM was the correct action. And PoM's public response to the banning was the correct response. He will re-assess himself and his language and come back better. I like his videos and await his return. It's not entirely impossible for GGG to reverse the account ban if PoM exhibits reform for next league. A ban doesn't mean deletion, his MTX and achievements are still there. I seriously just cant believe people are defending him except in ignorance. EDIT: Adding the Terms of Use since some people are responding to me like I am not completely right. Term 14: "...For the avoidance of doubt, you acknowledge that you will have no ownership rights in your Member Account, including without limitation any Virtual Items connected with such Member Account." Term 17: "...To the greatest extent permitted by law, Grinding Gear Games also reserves the right, acting at its sole discretion, at any time to cancel your registration and access to your Member Account...if it believes you have breached these Terms of Use or any other agreements you may have with Grinding Gear Games..." if i go into a shop and insult the employees, i will be thrown out and banned from the house. just because it's the internet here doesn't mean streamers are gods and get to say anything

It wasn't just one statement or rant. This was going on for days with the personal attacks and vile toxicity on all platforms. People need to grow up, seriously. Imagine behaving like that at any of our real jobs. We'd get banned too.

" Nope, you're wrong on that one. They could ban him, if he violates GGG's ToS. These terms are solely valid in the vicincy of services the company provides. If any user uses any words of opinion on their phone, on the table in a bar, on a stage or on his twitch channel, the ToS are not capable of being violated as the action is performed outside the service area. If - like in this case - a CEO is not capable to stand above childish noise that's fine, an offended und hurt Chris Wilson could introduce legal steps. BUT: the ToS is not touched by that. So, PoM still is a customer. He might consider taking legal steps to revert the decision to ban him (what he will not do, but legally could do). As a citizen PoM has any right to think about Chris Wilson what he wants to think of him. He even can speak out, what he thinks of him. If it's over the edge like in this case, he could face legal steps against himself. But he never, ever can be banned from a service for his own thoughts and his own opinion out of the service area. Oh, and stating that using swearwords has anything to do with 'hatespeech' is a field of nonsense we better don't enter. Last edited by AngryGekko#0233 on Aug 26, 2022, 12:12:24 PM
