Is Path of Exile Better Than Diablo 3

Diablo 3 was a HUGE let down in my eyes. I played the beta and was pretty stoked but once I hit inferno after release I started to RAGE! That game is bottom of the barrel. Its just a money grabber and Blizzard is basically pissing all over it once loyal fans and destroyed their name as well as the Diablo series. IF I lived near the HQ for Bliz Id light a half dozen large paper grocery bags of horse shit on fire on the front steps.

Well, I agree with most of you. I mean PoE is exactly what I wanted D3 to be like you know, a true sequel to D2, an ARPG legend. I wanted to actually think abou how to allocate points as I level up, and be rewarded for it.

In D3, through Normal, Nightmare, and Hell, with the use of the Auction House, you can always make it "easy", by overgearing, and since most below lv60 items are cheap, the first three difficulties were a breeze, I probably only dided a totaal of 7 times, wthout skipping Champions/Elites.

When you get to Inferno, you don't level up, and due to the Nephalem Valor buff, Blizzard encourages you to NOT change your build, or you lose the buff. Essentially, the only way to progress throgh inferno is farming, and since item drop rates = garbage, gold farming is far more profitable, yet boring, you wont get the same satisfaction as finding that one item you want. Since gold farming is boring, and crafting is expensive as hell....the solution is Real Money Auciton House. There you go, Blizzard's secret plan, I feel ripped off for buying D3,and more than happy to pay 10 bucks for PoE.

Who cares about achievements? 2 Lv 60 Monks? really? Yeah, whats the difference? None. Most achievements are totally not worth it.

PoE's design to not have gold but materials as crafting is wonderful, and the skill tree is wonderfully huge, the ability to change around skills as you find them in the form of gems is creative gives a sense of adventure, along with leveling them up too.

Overall PoE>D3, but as people have already mentioned, due to the advertising of D3 being so much more extensive, its not likely that PoE will make as money as D3, even though I want it to, even far exceed the amount, GGG really deserves it. It is just like COD, they release the same game every year, and people buy it due to the brand name, I admit, I am guilty of this too.
I think it seems like it, I haven't played PoE yet but Diablo was a disappointment because of the difficulty and skills.
PoE is absolutely better, than Diablo III. Diablo has too cartoonish, WoWish atmosphere and it's a disappointment. I like PoE Gameplay, dark fantasy atmosphere and that Skill Tree..no Forest! I cannot wait to build my characters, it's so awesome.
Path of Exile - One of the Best ARPG of All Time
Diablo 3.. ehh, waste of money.
Thing is, PoE is only in closed beta and has much more potential.

I'll say again: fanboys can deny all they want, but the loot system in D3 is simply a joke.

First of all, I haven't actually played D3, my opinion is formulated based upon gamers whom I respect, forum posts I have read, and gameplay I have seen.

Diablo 3 is extremely dumbed down compared to D2. They removed many of the RPG elements that made the game fun so that they could put in a noob friendly skill system with very little customization and they took out the ability to choose your stat points. Also, the progression system is messed up: you go from being able to steamroll everything with no problems to getting steamrolled if you don't buy gear on the auction house. The hitboxes are completely broken (making it impossible to dodge attacks). Good builds are constantly getting nerfed, while bad builds stay bad. The itemization is extremely boring (most good gear has vit+main stat+resist) and finally, the game has very few good builds. The difficulty of Inferno does not lead to challenging gameplay, but instead promotes use of the AH/RMAH, and cookie cutter builds.

Because you are doing two things... you are farming loot and working towards your next level at the same time. Not to mention you had pvp to make the repetitive farming mean something.

That doesn't change anything. It's still as much "repetitive and grindy".

I agree, but there was a purpose. D3 is repetitive and grindy without any sense of purpose right now. Without a difficult to attain level cap and no PVP there is literally nothing to do past killing Diablo on Inferno. You can do the repetitive loot grind... but there is no purpose to it as the game sits.

D2 was a lot less repetitive than D3 due to the fact that you could re-roll a character.

Okay, you had gotten to level 86 with a paladin. Great.

You could grind forever to get to 99. But lets be honest. The first three times you did that, the last levels weren't that fun. :)

But what WAS fun were testing a new skillset. First was a conviction/lower resist aura, next was a Zeal/Frenzy aura, next was a Hammerdin then when you had exhausted all the common options, you could do the weirder builds like lightning bow paladin or a coonvertadin with thorns.

In D3, these are all in the same character. Sure you can swap skillsets around with no levelling, and just buy a new set of gear, but to me this is boring.

Even if you rerolled, the game is designed for you to use specific skills in specific areas, so you would still just use the same skills everywhere if you chose to reroll the same character.

And the 'difficulty' in D3 is mostly in the gear check. This is of course to make people use the AH. Not to promote skillful gameplay.

PoE is a great fit for you if you like thinking about a game more than actually playing it.

D3 wins in the domain of playability hands down. Any sort of discussion otherwise is really sort of stupid. PoE really needs to have the game play polished before I'd say it can compete with D3.
It doesn't really need to compete with D3 because it's a free to play game (with probably the best F2P model in a MMO, still it doesn't beat other games non-mmo's like dota2). So they will have success weather or not they make the combat better, because people play D2 and they still enjoy it although the combat is not good (for today's standards) but it would be nice if they could bring the combat to a Torchlight 2 level of quality where it is fun, fast and satisfying. D3 lacks 'speed' and PoE lacks animation quality and a batter UI here and there.
