Lake of Kalandra seems pretty underwhelming.
" Huh ? Are you going to identify all the rares you drop for high rolls ? :)), like really you like going into the trash cans for a diamond reward as well ? Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

Didn't read through the thread because I didn't want to get ideas from others, but off the top of my head reasons I am excited for the league.
I like the idea of building something through multiple maps, and then running it all at once. We've had things like this before, and other than how poor the archnem UI was, I've enjoyed most of them. I think the reflection gamble is neat. Even if it bricks it for you, you could still sell it to someone else who the massive downsides would not hinder. I having recently completed the All Ear achievement on steam am very excited for new lore. The last two leagues had nothing, and Scourge not going core basically got rid of that, so it's been a year since we last had sticking lore, and I've always wanted to know more about Kalandra. In the same vein, I'm excited for the new master lore paths as well. I know that is not really LoK related, but it is coming out at the same time. |

I think people are criticizing LofK from a wrong starting point.
Sure the map itself looks icky and basic, sure it mostly incorporates old mechanics. BUT The new stuff is quite ridiculous. Those upgraded and mirrored rares are going to be one of the most massive power creeps on itemization since OG Harvest. T1 stats...+30%?! Also, (arguably) one of the BEST leagues ever in the history of PoE was synthesis and this whole tablet building thing seems to be eerily similar. We don't yet know just how juiced this tablet makes running all that old content and that can be quite exciting to think about. When people criticize a new patch because it rehashes or reuses "Old content" I have to laugh a little...nearly ALL leagues are just rehashed old content, with very few exceptions. Basically all any league mechanic is: throw a bunch of monsters with upgraded rewards at you...in different ways. OR alter the rewards from existing content. Ultimatum was the same as breach in function, Sentinel was the same as ghosts in function, Expedition is basically the same as Ritual in function, although harder and more involved. Sure it isn't the most inspired design, but it's very much in line with GGG's typical league content. As an added note: other changes outside of Lake of Kalandra tablet building is NOT league content, it is general PATCH content which should not be misattributed to the new "league" mechanic. Being a Synthesis league fan, having a new "build your own dungeon" league is pretty cool.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

I don't know how anyone can look at the reveal and not come away with a positive view. There is literally nothing bad, and lots that is good.
But we'll see. I can't wait. As always the worst part of the reveal is the one week wait until we can actually play the game. |

It looks like synthesis but with worse art style and mechanic
Need more brains, exile?

A lot of the company is working on POE2. POE2 has to be so successful for them as a company moving forward. They know EVERYONE who has stopped playing for one reason or another will at least try it out.
It's the reason things like melee won't really be "fixed" till POE2. As Chris talked about animation changes not coming till POE2 releases. You are just going to have to accept weak leagues and weak updates. Most of the company's time and money is going into POE2 now. Even more so as it gets closer to release. You are beta testing QoL and some new ideas that might go into POE2 development. |
