Exalt was the perfect currency for trade since it was rare enough to keep some value and had little practical direct crafting use (slamming an item isn't really a thing other than a meme). It was still used for metamods so they did leave circulation for the crowd that decide to engage with end game crafting.
Divines have (Had?) a much broader use that was more reasonable to use it for. You use it enough times and you'll get the outcome you want. That's RNG I think the masses can swallow. Exalt an item and hope that it doesn't get thorns or light radius with only one shot? Not even worth wasting the time. I'll probably just sell it for the 20C or whatever it is worth and keep seeking Divine orbs, while remaining sad that holding/trading it as currency makes more sense than using it. This change just feels like taking an item that carved out a sacred place in our item filters and will now be closer to Sacred Orb levels of who cares. Finding a well rolled unique will be good now, I guess. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Aug 12, 2022, 9:38:45 AM

Yes, they have 1000% destroyed the economy **AND** mid to high end crafting with one poorly thought out change.
Now basic exalt crafts will cost tens of exalts trying to procure divines which were always 1/10th as common as exalt drops, relying almost entirely on six-links to source. High end crafting is F*ed. Not dead, not by a long shot, but the number of people going full on crafting will shrink considerably. Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive. Patch Notes 3.19: Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment. |

I think a couple things are at play.
1. They want uniques to be more rare, and more powerful, and I suspect moving forward, that the rolls on the item will have a more significant impact. Getting a good roll will mean something. Their D2 nostalgia rears its head. 2. They were super pissed that the community cracked the legion jewel algorithm. With their rng obsession, and planned future uniques, this was a pretty unsustainable victory for the players that they could allow (cheaply) 3. The divination cards and harbinger /shards for exalts was an issue, combined with the point Nubarton made. Exalts were not really used aside from meta crafting, which meant it was solely collected as trade currency, and hardly ever left circulation. Its a systemic currency problem. 4. I'm not sure to what degree but this also impacts the RMT & botting status quo. Notice how Chris stayed clear of Harvest crafting recipe changes except that exalted craft nerf ( it has a random annul included now ) ? Since Exalts will be worth a lot less, what do you think will happen to Divine harvest crafting :D
Get ready to grind your ass off to get gear with decent rolls.... which might not be an issue for a casual like me, since i am not aiming for top stuff, if the item drops themselves were better. For instance, if they doubled the drop rate of Ashes it would no longer be insanely expensive on the low rolls, so allowing players who do not sleep in game to push their builds a bit more. This way a bad Ashes will still be 70-80ex while a good one will go for a mirror. Last edited by adreeasa#0340 on Aug 12, 2022, 10:18:38 AM

" Yes, THIS... casuals just got kicked squarely in the face by a very, very angry draft horse. This will be the winnowing league, pushing out the casuals and all but completely closing, locking, and barring the door against new players. The bots won't care, they'll still make their money. " I'd say people who generally farmed something like 20-100 exa during league just got humiliated. In 3.19 they gonna find out that can't even afford semi-expensive well-rolled uniques and mid-tier crafted items... I farmed pretty a lot of currency in recent leagues(like 2k+ exa in 3.18), and I'm terrified because of 3 things in 3.19. 1. Insane(INSANE) new craft costs for meta mods. Believe me, 2 ex in 3.18 gonna be nothing compated to 2 divines in 3.19 for suff/pref lock... 2. New harvest nerfs. SO they gutted augments. We dont know what else is dead! Lucky divines? Resist change? Fractures? Reforge keep pref/suff ? Reforge inf more common? 3. Divining expensive/key uniques. Timeless jewels? Shako?(I know they buffed droprate, it wont help. u gonna need to drop houndreds of them). 20/30 Ashes for 0.5 mirror? 3.13 Was the best league ever! 3.18 Rest in peace my beloved recombinators, I'm gonna miss you... in std divines already cost more than exalts i think for the first time ever we will break chaos:ex rartio when it was at its peak like it used to be one league 1:200c for exalt but now 1 divine price might get higher than even 200 chaos maybe even 300 or 400

" Well the absolute ceiling would be 600 (full inv) at least for PC. The problem is that at like 300c+ divines become far too valuable to actually use, for anything really, unless you are in the .1% of players. Imo this is a pretty toxic change in trade league in terms of player experience. While it certainly encourages people to farm for more uniques rather than roll them, the average player, well, it's a no-brainer. Sell your divines. Always.
