When exactly does POE become fun / better ?
" Girl or boy mechanics? I figured out the girl ones. It was fun. but the boy mechanics I dont know much about. Is it fun? |

Some people...
If poe wouldnt be fun for me, i wouldnt still be here. It became arguably better after i started playing more and more SSF though, cause what people do over there in trade (and how it makes them act) doesnt have much to do with the game i like. But, i am a simple person. I like running story. Messing with a lot of different builds and items and skills. I dont need to reach "endgame", dont need to minmax, i dont need Mageblood. I like doing stupid things, and you can do A LOT of stupid things in poe. Most people have a huge problem with expectations regarding poe, and that is always a "they" problem. I just want to have fun, and for me, poe still delivers after more than 10 years. Well to each their own i guess, and what they deserve on top of it :)

If you ask about newcomers, I can say I havent met any on them having fun for quite a while already. PoE is too harsh now and hate new players, been said. So honest answer for now: never.
It was more friendly though, when I met this game, we jumped in with friends years ago. Must say, they are not played poe like 1.5 years already, all 3 of them. Also mocking me like 'how can you still play this shit?'. I clearly understand them, theyre quite right. Other games are alot more fun and alot more accessible. Games, actually. In my opinion, a game does not get better. You either enjoy it form the start or you don't.
Same applies to POE. If you can't at least get through the campaign and somewhat enjoy yourself, you won't like the endgame either. Those who say the endgame is more fun, used to love the campaign as well (playing it over and over for years does get boring though). |

" Exactly, I'm sorry but for me the game has reached the point of no return, it now doesn't have any RP aspect anymore and it's just an action game where you walk forward and blow up insignificant npc in milliseconds or get killed by something invisible, everything what you do is open maps after maps and get currenys that are useless and are highly redundant, there are 10~20 of them that do the same thing and only exist to sell chest tabs |

For some people, the game will never be fun and that's okay. There are elements of the game I enjoy, and other parts of the game that I don't. I engage with the parts I do enjoy, and limit my interactions with the parts that I don't.
If there is no pathway to enjoy the game, then it might be time to reevaluate. I played D3 for a while. Found joy in it for a while, and then found it to be shallow (especially after soul bound equipment). When there was no more fun to be had, I moved on and found POE. There is no answer to your question OP that is universal. We all figure it out at some point. I personally think that if this isn't the game (like D3 for me), then they should look around. That's how I found POE. That's how players will find their game of choice. But searching for some arbitrary point in time that now signifies fun? Good luck with that. Thanks for all the fish!

For me, the fun begins at typing in a new character name and then continues from there. Not everything in the game is great fun, sure, but I enjoy how customizable the game experience has become over time.

When I first started midway through abyss, it was a blast and that's counting all I had to learn.
However, as that knowledge has accumulated the more annoyed I've gotten. I think its less of a hours put in and more of a what leagues did you participate in at this point. Of the two leagues I did 40/40, Delirium was a blast but Archnem was more of a I made it this far might as well go for the full 40/40, though the atlas changes helped. I also enjoyed Betrayal and Legion despite their issues as well. But integrating archnem into base game further restricted worthwhile options in a field already lacking in diversity. And now defenses and mana res are being hit because so many of us got forced to use them.... I wasn't timing it, but my SSF chieftan took over 25-30+ min just to finish dominus fight, taking ages just to clear his posse alone. Granted the gems were a bit underleveled converting into ballista ea but given my gear the melee wasn't doing enough anyway and only more prone to death. I think they forgot about fun and are just trying to base decisions off raw data. Yep, totally over league play.

I'd say it gets better in act three. Sometimes act two.
