When exactly does POE become fun / better ?
1 hour ?
10 hours ? 100 hours ? 1,000 hours ? 10,000 hours ? Think about it. Really. How much have you sunk into it, is it getting better ? While patch nerfs are stirring up alot of drama, we're avoiding the elephant in the room. Imagine telling someone who just started with nothing, "it gets better after you get Mageblood" I personally think it should get better after 15 minutes and everything else is basically new content... I just spent 4 hours in standard, sorting just the maps from all the leagues I played. And while cleaning 7800 maps I was thinking, these leagues are basically some sort of FOMO because I can comfortably play standard as is.

" It gets better in maps, which some people claim is after 6 hours of playing. When It comes to me, it takes me like 12hours or more, and i did it hundreds of times already and I hate every second of it. I got lvl 100 and 99 characters so I do not have issue with just grind itself but I skip leagues exclusively because I get too tired of quests and I make only 1 character per league for the same reason. Running maps for 600hours? Count me in, doing quests twice in single month? Go tuck yourself pls I will not stand for this cruelty! So I'd say the casualest casual will see the "fun" part after 25 hours every league. And might have fun earlier if it is first time playing. Big part of this is that ACTS do not respect your time, as they drop useless items and currency starts dropping in last few acts not before. Best you can realistically find and will stay viable at least for first 1 hour of mapping is tabula rasa in first 9 acts and then unrealistically headhunter(lottery tier odds) or mirror (lotter tier odds again) So 500 from 500 runs from 0 to 70lvl you will find nothing good, maybe 15 chaos orbs. Depends on your definition of "fun" and "better". I don't need to have the best gear, be "on top" of every enemy and roflstomp everything to have fun. I had fun learning the game way back when I died a million times fighting Vaal, and I have fun now.
Your character feeling a bit slow and janky at lower levels is a double edged sword. Sure, it may be "boring" for some people, but it really enhances the feeling of progression. In other games, a level one character feels and plays the same as a level 'whatnot' character; the only things that have changed, are the numbers. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" One of friends quit this game after a single week, not even got to maps. Got into Diablo Immortal and spent more money in few days than I did in 7 years in POE. Now to be fair, POE did reward me with some good times, and best of times I had was doing stupid crap like trying to 6 man Shaper or Sirus, sometimes, they game isn't just dead grind, there are ways it can be fun, it's like, GGG never explored this. " AH yeah even in my recent "PoE is great" shill thread I mentioned that the COOP in this game is worse than in d2 which is 23years old game at this point. I'd like them to make coop more fun and rewarding with randoms, you know the saying "Everything is more fun with friends" I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty, I feel pretty, and witty and gay, And I pity Any girl who isn’t me today! It gets better, peaks, then becomes repetitive from what I can tell.
This is a rough guess, assuming you dont beat the game your first league by optimizing everything and copying builds. Hour 0 - 50 - Difficult, some fun, mechanics are confusing. Hours 50-150 - Kinda hard, but a lot more fun, starting to more deeply understand interactions, mechanics, defenses, varied playtyles Hours 150 - 400 - Get the hang of the game, start using trade or crafting, power fantasy feels good Hours 400 - 800 - Conqueror the game, feels good, farming endgame gets a little boring Hour 800+ Pretty repetitive, finding ways to enjoy the game becomes the game |
