It all comes down to Bone Rings
What shifting things to gear does is hurt ssf-type play. I play pretty casual hours per week and don't like dealing with trading very much. I've never had spare room on rings, so if I need an extra high-value/rare mod to make minions viable that's just not going to happen.

" What shifting power to gear does, is to make minion builds scale more like other builds, actually requiring good gear to progress. Well, at least some other builds. I'm no minion build expert, but it always seemed like the majority of minion power came from the tree and ascendancy. I may be very wrong here, and I'm sure the beautiful guild member that started this thread would set me straight if I'm wrong, because he knows more about this shit than I ever will. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Aug 4, 2022, 5:22:47 AM

" Besides 15% mana reservation hit - elementalist golemancers only got buffed. So they will be a really strong option in the upcomming season. And if all these bone rings, etc proves to be strong - good times. Last edited by gageris#1266 on Aug 4, 2022, 6:55:50 AM

" I suspect its because we use accessories for resists fairly often and in these cases the suffixes won't be available for resists because we are using them for minion modifiers instead. I mean i'd prefer 7% life like vermillions but you know :p they had to choose something and I think resists is OK |

" That one makes my head hurt. It's not you as GGG has said that NECROMANCER shouldn't be what people think of when considering minions. New players will be confused when they are told necromancer isn't what you should be playing if you want to play a minion build. Anyway, it would need to give the power of a gem plus the other things a ring provides a build with. Losing a gem socket at the end of the day. On the plus side lots of content for that one streamer rolling a god-tier ring. |

Minions/Necromancers are still broken, insanely good and an easy to play noob archetype. Stop whining, should have been nerfed to the ground, instead the power simply got shifted from one place to the other. Stop whining. Affliction and Necropolis worst leagues ever. The current game design has slowly turned this game into a loot-shower fest, chase uniques are way too available; and obtaining chase items through stacked decks and valdo's boxes simply isn't fun.

A summoner cannot decide to carry a shield with good blocking to improve it defenses and survivability, now it is restricted to bone shields and bone rings. They might achieve the opposite they intended. Less flexibility on builds and less variety. At high levels survibility comes first, then dps. They intend to improve dps with minions at the cost of maybe survability...

" Depending on the league buffs and nerfs, with a good build, minions can usually become yellow map viable with a modest gear investment. To get them into well rolled red maps starts to take some decent gear. At that point, minions are usually map viable or boss viable. With a significant investment, they can do both well. If you want to do uber content, than it usually takes as much investment as anything else. You will rarely see the same top level gear investment, because as GGG mentioned - there aren't a lot of minion mods on gear. The present convoking wand is a great example of missing the mark completely. Imagine the most sought after bow having the implicit "Can roll bow mods" or the best wand having "can roll caster mods" as a wasted implicit. Another problem that GGG hinted at was they treat minions as monsters. " Because minions are monsters, they inherit some stats from monsters that can significantly affect build choices and power." This means that while most casters can scale up crit or casting speed with lots of gear options, minions don't get those benefits. For instance, while rolling my character's gloves, there was an eldritch mod which gave a nice additional global damage per 100 str. Great for casters, melee, bow etc, but useless for minions. GGG needs to open up all the item slots that other characters can utilize for minion mods. Maybe when GGG has a league when there is a minion equivalent of omniscience, we can consider Necromancers as OP as some of the other top builds. The number of people flocking to minion builds is a sign of how badly balanced defenses are in the game, and GGG keeps applying random "fixes" while they break more things.
