There used to be a time when people actually enjoyed doing that, just like I'm doing now. I do actually like modifying my build to adapt to changes, like solving a puzzle. It allows me to try things I haven't done before. But I guess these days, it's an annoyance. There's no more "All right! Let's open PoB and see how to fix my shit."


fixing shit in PoB is fine, but the moment I start assigning price tags to those changes, things start to look a bit more grim.

Wanna anoint Aura notable? Ok, 2 gold oil, that's about an ex early league. Will I have good enough amulet to just anoint and forget or will I slap an ex worth anoint to something that will last perhaps 2 days.
Each cost is translated to time, and then I basically turn the "build" to +3 weeks before it start to work given my average play time. Ye, I am not sticking around for that long.


And unfortunately I don't enjoy being mindless currency making drone just to "finally start to play the game" couple weeks later after buying some key items.

3.13 was the golden age.
The mastery gives you an extra aura. That makes it nearly a mandatory mastery. Nearly mandatory even if you don't want a aura build. Any mastery that has the obvious first op pick, limits the tree.

Ye I'm glad they got rid of it. Buff defenses another way. Just don't buff armour stackers either way.

If anything I like what they've done to Aura stackers this past year since I started playing. Anything auto boosted to mobile phone game auto path afk lvling standards should be obsolete & deleted from gamer existence forever.

If only link skills were more active use. At least ggg tried to make support more active with links. It's a good start.

This only makes league start more miserable (which is already really miserable with all that archnemesis bullshit). At the start of a league you're barely able to fit Determination, Banner and Purity of Elements. You don't even run a DPS aura because you can't afford the mana for it, you run Lifetap + Blessing to boost your damage on bosses....oh wait, they destroyed that strategy too.

I really dislike when they nerf stuff that is easily accessible to everyone. GGG seems to be watching those mirror tier projects that have three awakened Enlighten 5's and they're like - oh, this dude is using too many auras, we have to nerf the reservation mastery on the tree!

Sod off, nerf enlighten gem if you want to nerf anything, not this.
I personally don't disagree with getting rid of the OP mastery. What I don't agree with is them getting rid of it for nothing in return. I am sick of sentences from GGG that go "People are doing X and that's a good thing for the game. But everyone's way of doing X is so similar so... we just yank it and give nothing back." What kind of messed up logic is that? That sentence is supposed to end "we took it away but put some in these places instead" NOT "we all have it so no more for anyone." Waiting for the league where we get "We like that people are getting so much life. But everyone seems to be getting the same life nodes so we removed all those life nodes from the game."

In the spirit of "this isn't a problem for the game but having it all in one node is too strong because too much for too little investment" can we please have all of the other reservation nodes on the tree bumped a bit to compensate. Maybe the small 8% nodes are now 10% and maybe the notables go up by 3-4% each. Or if that's too much, maybe the smalls go up by 1% and the notables go up 2-3%? That way, you can still get the power back but now need to invest much more heavily in the tree to get the same power, which should satisfy the "we felt 1 node was too generically strong" issue.
this mastery was mandatory for pretty much any character build but the game got so difficult in the past couple of leagues that stacking many defensive auras became mandatory too.

Majority of builds reserve bulk of their mana for defensive auras alone. You don't see characters running many offensive auras, it's all about boosting defense. All my builds in 3.18 had at least five auras active, sometimes six or even seven of them. So many that I had a hard time fitting all the aura buttons. My VLS Champion used the following:

-Grace
-Purity of Elements
-Precision
-Hatred
-Discipline
-Blood and Sand (for Arena Challenger notable I stole with Forbidden jewels)
-Clarity (lv. 1)

That's seven god damn auras and this is a character WITHOUT Determination + Banner.
This is crazy.
My other characters look similar.

Now I have to get rid of something, and I don't know what. On this build I'd propably ditch Discipline as this character had 14,4k energy shield anyway (which is overkill)

This post made me laugh, thank you. I don't know if it's even possible to explain why this nerf was justified in a more brilliantly concise manner.
Wouldn't it make more sense to keep the masteries strong while nerfing the notables, to promote actual pathing for masteries rather than remote allocation through various jewels?

This along with the removal of blessings means a significant amount of power level removed from almost EVERY build. And it hurts the weaker ones more. It just FELT GOOD to take the mastery, get an extra aura in, simple and impactful. I wish the reservation efficiency was compensated elsewhere. And in an easy to access manner, maybe in a second set of "bandits" or some sort of "super masteries" you unlock after completing the uber trials. We need some more power level that is accessible easily by every build.
