What did POE learn from Lost Ark?
Hopefully they learned poe is not an mmo and going in that direction just brings in more headache with bots and rmt, I am pretty sure they regret everything in the game that attracts these things. The way poe survives off tab purchases and mtx purchases, is fair in my opinion, I do not think it would scale very well at all with a mmo type playerbase. So yeah I believe they could market it as a MMO and do well, for awhile. Thankfully they seem to want to make an honest living and not a quick splash of cash.

" I agree with everything you said and I am not defending POE in the slightest. LA may full well be a more fun game but if it has de facto cheats then its automatically disqualified from being a good game. Level playing field is that important to me. As far as I know progression in LA is miserably slow without wallet assistance. Thats why I asked the dude how much nolife it took for his equip. I didnt mean that POE isnt a nolife by it cause it also is nolife, but fair nolife, equally miserable for everyone and using wallet to skip misery will get you banned in POE while LA actively encourages it which is disgusting. POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1. |

" Progression in PoE vs LA imo really isn't comparable - PoE moves on a three-month reset cycle, which leads to sprint-style gameplay, where the usual strategy is to go hard for 2 - 4 weeks and be done with the current round of the cycle. In contrast, LA is a permanent progression game, so the gameplay is marathon-style with a moving plateau to reach over long periods of time. So, the playstyle of "go hard for a month and be done" is impossible, but instead, regular play (even like 1h per day) achieves solid progression. This interacts very differently with P2W aspects - in PoE it would destroy the game, because it would break the sprint (for the same reason, streamers getting queue privilege was a huge deal). But in LA, speed doesn't matter all that much, because it doesn't matter by how much you surpass the next plateau (next content update) or when you reach it for as long as you are there on the patch day, and the plateau has been moving pretty slowly since like the second month of the game. In this regard, the P2W in LA doesn't do all that much - it just shortens the time it takes one to reach the next plateau. In a way, it's sometimes detrimental to actually playing the game, because the progression is the game - I've encountered quite a few people who paid to skip the progression, and then bitterly quit because they had nothing meaningful to do. And to top it off, the competitive content (PvP and infernal raids) in LA are fully gear-equalized, so the competitive aspect is untouched by the P2W. Not gonna be second class citizen, but you are free to enjoy :) POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.

" Esther weapons aren't in the NA/EU versions and multiple other similarly money-milking systems that should have been in NA/EU aren't, so there's no telling whether Esther weapons will even make it to NA/EU, and if they do, how will the system look like. But I know, haters gotta hate :D Last edited by Xyel#0284 on Jul 28, 2022, 8:44:30 AM

esther weapons is inherently a p2w element specifically catered to the whales but these weapons are a 5% damage boost at best case scenario and only a dozen players in the region are even capable of obtaining them anyway
this is less power than a random divine roll between 2 of the same poe items hence nobody cares im still up for the challenge i posted earlier btw, i just finished the hardest raid in a group full of whales and i got mvp damage in all 3 gates, doing 30% of a 8 man groups damage. i would like to see a whale try to outdamage me in a raid |

I don't think that's a fair comparison anyway yamface, 9/10 the grinder will be a better player than the whale, its probably more than that tbh :p
You are looking for someone whose good enough to get there without, but apparently was too busy to do so and had to buy their way to progress instead. Honestly its almost an oxymoron. I wouldn't take that bet even if the gear wasn't even until you got to a major disadvantage. Its no different here you see the shit p2w people post? People with mageblood, aegis, melding mirrored gear struggling in yellows :p LA had a p2w phase designed to absolute rinse the initial sales push and maximise then it kinda disappears for the regular players. Its a good model from a business perspective. Last edited by Draegnarrr#2823 on Jul 28, 2022, 10:13:33 AM

What the, thinking it's a little insane that you should even compare an insanely P2W game to PoE is a little bizarre imo.hah

" you're in here to complain about exactly what?? So you want PoE to include character power in the shop? I'm just a little confused by exactly what you and other people want poe to learn from a p2w MMO action-RPG. the fact you're trying to JUSTIFY P2W because you do more damage than some whales is really cringe. do you have a brain? I think you're here talking out of your ass. |

" I do find LA to be an overall fun game, but underselling P2W in it is just criminal. The game is MASSIVELY P2W, with a big whale being able to run laps around most players. Higher gearscore and better geared players have clear advantages in endgame, dont have to waste time looking for groups, take less damage and do more damage. Lvl 10 gems are mostly whale or complete no-life territory, and give a significant damage boost even over lvl 9 gems. Quality enhancing is a whale gamba that directly affects your HP and damage... Almost all player power systems have an additional whale-only or complete no-life only options for "small" power increases that add up. And there will be more stuff to come, including a whole continent with open PvP based on gear... I have seen it on RU, it plays exactly how you would expect - a couple of whales come to a world boss spawn and one-shot 30-40 other faction players for fun. Yay. And let's also not forget that due to the way trading is structured in the game (pheons), the game will die and it will become essentialy impossible to trade gear on AH if whales stop buying gold with blue crystals from free to play players. Imagine a game so not P2W that it literally becomes impossible to play in endgame if wallet players stop buying gold. I mean, the game had at one point around 650k concurrent RMT bots with 150k real players... What else do you need to know about just how P2W the game is? It's just not as in your face as other Korean F2P grinders (not a very high bar). This is probably the most sad part about LA - it has some genuinenly good moments and content, but underneath that is just another F2P P2W korean game with RNG gambling-like activities linked to real money. |
