TFT unethical business
The Forbidden Trove is well known for their discord which a huge part of the playerbase uses for their daily trading. They also feature the biggest mirror shop in POE existence. It features perfect items from several different crafters who can not be online the entire day and entrust their items to [Removed by Support] is therefore the sole person who does all the mirroring, taking a personal cut for each service done.
Now recently [Removed by Support] and his inner circle (without telling the mirror item owners) have started mirroring those items to consume these mirrored copies with recombinators. This gives them the possibility to create the absolute best items ever. Sentinel League drops recombinators which can be used to steal/combine mods of 2 items. And since Standard has so many legacy mods, possibilities are endless. Streamer PathOfMatt talks about it here: [Removed by Support] Now the problem is that [Removed by Support] on his own accord used those mirror-tier items for his own advantage to create the perfect monolopy. Now why is this all important? The one who has the best items, can deliver the most mirror services, can ask the highest mirror fees, can set the prices on the top end items and god knows what they do with all these juicy exalts, right? Let just say [Removed by Support] is not the friendliest player. We met in 2020 when I had clear suspicions that his cartel was fixing the eternal orb prices together with some other notable money moguls, which I won't name. Back then their goal was to set the price of eternals relatively low but without actually selling them. This confuses unknowing players to sell off their last remaining eternal orbs to this cartel for pennies on the dollars. Now this act in itself is not really illegal and is something you can expect in any multi online game, especially poe and cruel Wraeclast. But such actions do speak volume of what kind of people they are. And one can connect the dots from here on. It is what it is. TFT aren't "the bad guys" here. They provide something people want - in an organized fashion. They provide an organized platform where people can buy and sell what they want/need.
The problem here, is GGG. They should either make everything tradable in-game, which is very easy, or they should make certain "services" non-tradable, which is - in some cases - a little bit harder. Do I personally like TFT? No. I don't like that a group of players has indirectly so much control over a sizable part of the market. Are they taking advantage of it? Don't know, don't care. It the principle of it that's shady here. But again; do I blame TFT? Absolutely not. But when Chris directly says that the increased rarity or increased amount of time investment people need to search up stuff on TFT, is an OK compromise when balancing the game - because less people will trade those commodities, and less people will know about them. It's borderline stupid and directly unprofessional. If GGG seriously didn't want stuff like this to happen, they would do something about it. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Classic first world problems, man. Stop worrying less what others do, so you'll enjoy your own gaming experience more...
If it was wealth in the real world, we should care and prevent stuff like this happening, but people can juggle with their mirrors whatever they want, it shouldn't affect anyone else's fun in the slightest. I know I'm not very constructive here but in general people should care less about unknown individuals in a video game as long they're not breaking any ToS. He should've paid out the mirror fee on each copy made. Not doing so is stealing from the people who own the items. I don't blame people from pulling their items from service.

" I am just curious, do you have any proof? 1 Streamer explains an accusation going around but I am yet to see anyone actually submit proof. There was 1 item that was made by recombining 1 mirrored item off standard with another but the transaction history for the guy mirroring it and paying the fee exists. So who was gaining this benefit? what items were made? and whos items were mirrored? |
