There is a fun method and fast method. The unfun methods are so profitable mostly because barely anyone is using them.

Because people dont want them gone. I dont know a single person who plays PoE seriously (and doesnt play SSF) that wants them gone.
They make no harm to the game, in fact they are good for the trade.

That could be programmed into an AH.

With various options.

Those semi automated programs are convenient, thats true. But they serve a bad long run deal onto the game.

They give massive advantage over sertain group of players over the rest.

This is not benefitial for the game at all.

Complex AH with options for locked pricing ( 12 or 24h) would be much much better.

And much more convenient.

And we will never get it as long Chris is in charge.
