Using a build I extremly dislike as a "league starter" to get to what build I actually want to play?

White mapping is absolutely stacked the last 2 leagues you don't need to bother alching if you don't want to, its just a constant juice circuit.

However OP easiest way to avoid your title is don't play a starter you dislike, yeah you'll start slower but a good plan for a build lets you set it up on the cheap to begin with and you only end up slightly behind.

If you're running solo, you're blowing off 200-250% quant. Join a clan, get to work, it's not exciting or dramatic like winning the Gwennen lottery or soloing exarch and getting an omni from it, but it's steady income.

In a clan you might be assigned to midrange consumables such as scarabs (Jun missions), div cards (eater/exarch altar spam), fossils, or sim splints/breach splints. You don't need to have OMGWTFBBQ dps to do syndicate or farm breaches for stones to sell. In league delve, it's entirely possible to drop prime resonators at depth 100 or less, sulphite rotas are dummy cheap, and sentinels are insane in delve because of density.

your reward is that you get a cut of the action and can tap into a pool of warm bodies to help pad your quant for maps and exarch.

It sucks to start something and then get stuck somewhere with it and have to roll again, but if you started with anything reasonably functional, and have a smart guild backing you, (and not a bunch of useless flakes who just "borrow" from the guild stash and disappear for the rest of the league - choose wisely) they'll task you to something your build can not only handle, but is a good fit.

Honestly if you're just struggling solo and don't have any friends or connections, just sell the invites for an ex a piece and bank it away until you can put down on an omni or whatever it is you need. Sell crimson temple. Sell scarabs. The big farming guilds will pay nicely for div scarab and the right sextants.

Just. Stop. It.

Like many already done vs poe.
It's a freakin' video game. Why the hell would anyone play a build they don't find fun, starter or not?

People are so freakin' weird.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
I will share a secret with you.
You can pick a league satrter that you dont hate.

But the one that you won't hate cause how it plays will likely perform badly and you will end up hating it anyway :D
POE2 should be the ruthless vision experience and POE1 should be the zoom power fantasy sandbox to capture both audiences.
I petition to return all the fun stuff that was removed or nerfed over the years back into POE1.
You mean to tell me that out of all the sites, reddits, youtube you couldn't find ONE starter to fill your needs?

In a league with NO balance changes* ? Bruh.

But your biggest mistake, huge really, is that you watched a streamer do something and thought hey, I could do this too. Oh man. Comparison is the Killer of Joy.

If someone, anyone, says "it's not so hard I have two dogs and three kids and look, somehow I got this mageblood and 2 mirrors" he's full of shit. He either played 72 hours straight at league start, flipped the SHIT out of the market, got handouts from guild/ viewers or did the thing with the real money that we don't really like to talk about here.

So chill. Get out there on the beach or strand or tropical island, touch the grass and just alch and go however you like. Do a breachstone rotation for xp, join as a leecher to grind some levels. Play how you like not how some streamer or nolifer tells you to.

Gl hf.

* I know there are technically some changes but the builds are the same.

... or is just straight up a lot better in this game, as skill makes quite the difference in Poe.
These replies are a designed trap.

If I get a good drop from running the invitations, I am rewarded with "Grats" and "Poggers" and when I don't get a reward I am told "Why didn't you just sell the invitation so someone else can run it and get the loot from it".

Either way, no matter the direction, you are prepared to defend the situation to the favor of your preferred outcome, which is, infinitely defending because "I got mine".

You are the boomers of POE.
Just walk right in there, look the Exarch right in the eyes, give him a firm handshake and demand the necklace. That's how my expansion did it, your character is just entitled. Oh,it didn't drop for you? You should have sold!

Hes selling the invites...PUMP THE DROP RATES!
Hes running it? DUMP IT!
