Play the 5-6 Meta Skills, Or Die in Maps

I play now (start yesterday, act 2) Holy Flame Totem + Flamewall, next i go to Bane + Essence Drain and maybe in future (70-85 lvl) i switch to Forbidden Rite selfcast on my Occultist. This is meta, or not?

Accoring to the internet only 5 most played skills can be meta, so you are clear.
Meanwhile my spark inquis build isn’t listed as meta.

I’ll show you! :(

"Oh you need multiple mirrors to make non-meta skill good".
You never tried, you probably didnt even see someone else try, you just repeat what you seen on reddit/forum.

And Im so sick of people who spam meta builds while defending the game from the relatively mild criticism that it would be fun if more skills more were viable.

Seriously Aynix, what harm would it do if there was greater viability on unused skills. Why do you troll every thread where someone points out "Hey, Im not crapping on the game, but it might be cool to boost skills no one has used in years? GGG?"

Ive tried plenty of non-meta skills. They hit a wall at a certain content level.

Your choices to get past the wall generally revolve around either (1) boosting your crit multi (which is a very efficient but expensive method), (2) fixing your inefficiencies with the absolute best cluster jewles, or (3) just generally having insane gear across the board with near perfect mods.

All three are just buying the best gear, which is why I pointed out that is possible.

But again I will ask, what is in it for you to actually want FEWER skills to be viable?

Everyone asking for more balance wants something simple - more fun by having more skill choices.

What is your goal here? Less choices?? What exactly do you get out of trolling/white-knighting these threads?

Finally finished up my fourth DW Lacerate Glad this league. Got through acts to maps. 3k life, 76% all res, ~61% block and about 100k dps. Keep in mind he JUST got to maps as I've been ignoring the game a lot this week.

Well, he died in the first map. THE FIRST MAP. Approaching a ritual beacon a group of sea witches with steel infused attacked and he just fell over. Cold snap? I'm not sure. But he got clapped hard with no counterplay in the first map Kirac gave me.

I got to maps so I'm done. But really get your head checked if you think this is fine. 3.18 is a clown world version of this game.

Tried this league self cast forbiden rite, super clunky. Projectiles slow, can barely hit anything. Tried it with cwc in case it would start auto targeting- no it doesnt, everything goes to the ground where your mouse is. Havent tries coc forbiden rite, there are powerfull builds in forum, at least on paper.

That actually depends - are you playing with an aurabot?

I mean, spark inq is top meta when playing with an aurabot, not so much without one though...

If you think you will do entire end game easily on 1ex budget, sorry, think again.
The so called "insane gear" Im using can be farmed literally in one day. You can realiabli farm 5ex/h using a lot of diffrent methods. Every build I played didnt require more than 20 ex.
Once aian - you never tried, you never seen anyone try, you just repeat what you seen on reddit/foru, thinking "it must be true if everyone is saying that". (hint, its not).
If you rly tried and "hit the wall" it just means you lack the knowledge on how to make build work. Its not skill problem, its YOU problem.

I play seismic trap and I still die in maps. I have no clue for whom this game is designed right now.
I think the OP's thoughts are becoming a little misrepresented in the back and forth so can we clarify?

It seems the issue is that OP doesn't like the low variety of "STARTER" builds. I tend to agree with this sentiment because it's hard to deny the majority of players will only play one build per league, which will be their starter. We all know we can juice stuff after we've been playing for a week or two and have some currency.

Not everyone is a Mathil that will sink 500+ hours into every league and make 20 builds. I personally have no issue with skills requiring a little more investment than another but it couldn't hurt to give more skills a smooth scaling in the beginning with gem levels or something else to bridge the gap so they don't feel like trash until you throw 30 ex at it.

If it has to have 20-30ex invested for it to feel good, it's not a starter build which is the only build a lot of players will play in a league.
