" Really, I'm not! I mean, this is obviously my opinion on the matter, but only time will tell which internet cynics win out! I'm gunna spend my e-p33n points on a new mouse! My old one's screw rusted over and I can't open it up anymore, which is bad cause it's double clicking on single click now. 3: " I suppose I could have phrased that better. For clarity: No, I do not believe there are multiple millions of players sitting around waiting to play. I do believe there are, collectively, multiple hundreds of thousands of players who either HAVE played or play semi-actively but may be taking any given league off for whatever number of reasons. (I only meant to say that this number could be greater than a million collectively, not multiple millions.) " Mhmm! They're guild/discord members of a friend group. We play all sorts of stuff, but I'd say well over 30 of them play POE on and off given the league. " I probably get food or hang out with about a dozen of them pretty regularly. And a few more often come to my board game nights. I'd say that I personally know around 2 dozen of them, the rest are friends of other members of the group who have joined over time. As for names, addresses, and genders... Not sure how that help much here. Unless you're just not convinced I know 30-40 people who play the game. In that case, I don't think that's really a hill worth dying on, or doxxing on as it were. :P " Not even close, Chris makes shitty decisions all the time. But most of my basis for thinking those decisions are shitty come from my own personal preference and desire to tinker under the hood with POE. Then I remind myself that the man has created and sustained a multi-million dollar company and he probably doesn't need my help. (CHRIS YOU NEED MY HELP! DM ME!) Definitely not a god, but I don't often see a lot of other people in his position, or an adjacent one, commenting on his decision making skills. " Really? You aren't? " Appreciate the read, bud. (Genuinely! If anything here comes off as snarky or argumentative, blame it on the internet and lack of social context! ... Well the bit where I recited your own line to you was a LIIIITLE snarky, but you snarked first! I'll have you know sir, I'm very proudly a grey knight and I PR for no one! Not even myself! ... Like and Subcribe, smash that bell!) But yes, thank you! It's definitely a lot more than most will do. To be honest, I hadn't planned on coming back here after writing this and most likely won't be back after this reply. I just happened to have the tab still open as I was browsing tonight. But all in all, believe me or not, I'm genuinely not here to hype/pr chris or the game. I just genuinely believe what I said to be true. And it's worth noting, that I based that opinion on personal experience, not just on my feelings for the game. I actually think there are ALREADY better games out there than POE, but I like POE for some of the things it does right and I do believe that Chris knows what he's doing. Now, whether or not what he's going is going to end in the success of the game or not is a whole different story. But a captain of a ship can very much sink a ship on his own accord, it's not always negligence or oversight. Peace~ |

" It also got a lot of poe players and streamers to try it, some of whom haven't returned. So whether or not you think there's overlap, there is demonstrably overlap between them. |

" Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls were massively popular during their time; vastly more popular than PoE. PoE is a live service game, basically, and it won the race in teh long run, but lets not get all revisionist history and act like D3 wasnt insanely popular for a few years there. Yes, in 2022 PoE is more popular than D3, but in 2013-2015 it damn sure wasn't. If D3 could have kept up a content schedule like PoE, I think it would still be really popular, too. But it was not designed like that. But Diablo Immortal is basically a long-term mobile game, and it will be designed that way. So yea, I do think Diablo Immortal is going to do damage to PoE in a way D3 couldnt. But I really think people forget just how popular D3 was during vanilla and Reaper of Souls for a few years there. Way, way more than PoE was. |

Speaking of "waste" money why not lets talk about how the poe community literally fucks themselves by pre buying supporter packs just to be alpha testers? and it's not the first and wont be the last time..
how's that for starter timmy? the buyers regret.. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words. poe2 = ruthless 2.0 = bad. |

" So sad that it's come to this. SLightly off topic regarding MMO models but people are under the impression if a game is technically free to play it's cheaper than a sub. It's so far form the truth now. The fact is sub is the fairest and cheapest model for anyone playing a game seriously - especially MMOs. No sub but F2P opens up this p2w cap, LA has it big time. If it was like $10 a month then everyone's time would be of relative equal value. You pay way more now to get what would come STANDARD in a sub, like full char slots, bank slots etc. Last edited by poeGT#1333 on May 19, 2022, 6:47:52 AM

" This has caused me to almost quit PoE several times. It's like they want only those who understand all mechanics, bosses, damage types (by looking up 3rd party websites) to be able to understand "what went wrong". Was it a Crit? What type of damage killed me? The fact this IS available in other clients but not the one I use is unfathomable, and I work in Software Dev. and know how branching code etc. all works ... but it has to be possible ... but they chose NOT to do it. It's very frustrating, and I've never heard a good argument why it's not there, other than the usual "get good" type responses. This is supposed to be fun. What's fun about something happening where you need to play hundreds or thousands of hours and/or depend on 3rd party info/websites to work out what's going on and killed you? |
