This map sustain with 4 socketed voidstones can't be intended.

Bump, noticing same thing, moment you do three voidstones it all turns to dust.

2 => Quite very often Burial.
3 => Changed to City Square, no drops in long time

lol you can't believe what you said to be true, every map is on the atlas and like the previous expansion with the conquerors every map should be dropping at the proper tier when the watchstones are socketed and they simply arent right now

If a map tier 8 "drops" but you only have t14-t16 on your atlas (3 voidstones) then it won't drop, thus making your overall map droprate lower.

That's why "X% chance for +1 tier map" is so good, turning t13 into t14, thus dropping instead of not.

You're not even playing this league. With 4 voidstones all maps become t16, so if t8 map drops, it would become t16 (with the same name as before). In previous league was working just fine.

I'm not an expert on map drop mechanics, but I'm sure you're completely wrong.

The update to the atlas is an expansion, not a league mechanic. This means that standard players have the new atlas too. So it doesn't matter if he's not playing the league.

And just because a map, that is naturally a T8, is turned into a T16 on the atlas, doesn't mean when that map would drop as a T8, it magically turns into a T16.
When a map "drops", it's tier will be decided first, if you don't have a map on the atlas of that tier, you should get map drop equity instead. You might want to read this:

So with 4 voidstones, you should get either map drop equity (magic numbers you can't see) or a t16 map. If you do get maps of a tier not on your atlas (at their natural tier), it's probably from a league mechanic dropping map items (delve chests, incubators, blight chests, temple map room, etc).

That said, the map sustain for a favorite map is indeed garbage. If I run 20+ of my favorite map (also having it 12x in my favorite slots), I get a dozen of connected maps (that I really don't want to run), a few non-connected maps and if I'm lucky I get one (maybe two) of my favorite map. This is with 100% chance for maps to drop +1 tier higher.

The strange thing is, if an elder guardian or conqueror map drops, it is my favorite map 9/10 times. The ratio is completely different with actual map drops (not counting connected map drops of course). It just feels weird and bad.

Same here. I am running every single map with atleast a rusted carto scarab and i have every favoured slot exept for cortex and the feared. i rarely see my favoured map drop more than once every 3-4 maps.
Really hope they fix this, 12x favoured maps was one of the things i was most hyped for from the reveal.
I have the same problem, since I went from 2 voidstones to 4, i barely get any map drops compared to before with the same atlas tree. I have +100% chance for maps to drop 1 tier higher, tried making that 75% for a few maps, but it didnt change anything

cheers for posting that map drop equity thing, i had a vague memory of hearing this was indeed a thing at some point but could not remember where i heard it, what it was called and where to find out exactly how it worked, or if it was even a thing and i didnt just made it u in my head.

i think the reality is that the 3:1 map upgrade is really bad, as can be seen by the quoted equity figures. if you run 3x t15 maps youll probably get a t16 map, but also get ur 3 t15s back, minimum, if not double those figures + a bunch of lower ones too. so vendoring those 3 t15s for a t16 is in no way the same as having those t15s and running them, the absolute value even calculated at a 3:1 ratio is terrible in comparison.

it takes no time, which is a major factor, so it shouldnt be as rewarding as having run them in this regard. but all the same, it still means that if you go from having t12+ maps on ur atlas to only t16 maps ur map drops will feel significantly worse. and its not just a mental thing of not seeing the lower maps but actually what u get is of the same value, if you were previously running say t14+ u were actually getting more t16 maps and significantly more overall value, you are losing out. but, always a but, this is presuming you dont exclusively run t16 maps.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Can confirm, haven't dropped any map in my last 10 maps with 4 voidstones
Can confirm this is still happening...
