Every time I try Uber Atziri on a character, it makes me want to quit PoE.

It's always one thing or another. On my current character (Raider), I lost all my portals to the Corrupted Blood from the 2H guy at Trio. He kills me with megastacks despite maxed Soul of Arakaali, and maxed Soul of Ralakesh, which get me through other CB applications throughout the game. (Horse-shittily enough, if a single application gives you more than 5 stacks of Corrupted Blood, Ralakesh doesn't cap it at 5. Makes sense with its wording, but still completely asinine.)

Why is Corrupted Blood so fucking busted? Is it because, hey, you can pop on a Jewel and be immune? Or a Flask? So we're free to just make it an instagib because players can go immune to it?

What I hate about PoE is that there are no defensive options. Only defensive requirements.

And just in general, I never feel like I'm gaining advantages when I improve my characters. I only feel like I'm gaining ability to play certain content. Or I'm passing requirement tests.

PoE misses the mark on feeling like you're getting stronger. It's hard to explain what I mean, I know I'm not articulating it in a good enough way that's on the tip of my tongue...

But I wager most of you know what I mean.

inb4 this becomes another Shady-bashing thread. It never fails, much like how Kopo's schtick has continued working here time and time again. C'est la guerre.
I think you've articulated it quite well and I agree with your perspective. This is GGGs misguided attempt to provide a carrot at the end of the stick for players. Keep grinding long enough and you can obtain a corrupted jewel with "Corrupting Blood cannot be inflicted on you" so you can overcome that obstacle. Admittedly you can also select it as an option on the tree now but the underlying premise is applicable to a number of things.

Now the real issue is that either players die a bunch of times on that journey, or they just buy the item outright and trivialise that issue. Which then annoys GGG because players have overcome the problem, so they introduce a new problem. It really never feels like progress, only like you're catching up.

With a healthy budget a player can just buy a solution to most defensive challenges the game provides. The right gear gives you health, spell suppression, armour, ignores ailments, makes you chaos immune and so on. If you don't have the budget though, you just have a miserable time with the game and struggle to progress.

This is the essence of the current balance problem in the game and was referenced recently by another player where so much power is in the gear and not as much in the tree or skill gems themselves, that the rich players walk over everything and get bored and the poor players get destroyed because of damage spikes. There's really very little middle ground.

Balance has always been GGG's Achilles heel though. From instagib Plummeting Ursas to Surprise Mutherfucker Devourers. If you had Armour then not a problem. If you were ES though, you simply died.

It sounds like you know how to handle it, but still don't make the choices to be able to handle it. Uber content requires some level of thought before starting to be able to finish.

For most of the game, corrupted stacks can be handled through the means you mentioned. Extreme end game doesn't fall into business as usual and does require you to plan through the fights, including the issue you're having.

To one of your main points about the game, you don't have to be immune to corrupted blood to win against the trio, it just makes it easier.
Thanks for all the fish!
just imagine if you could get immunity from the tree or something
d:-D*
The whole thing is a giant DPS check.

Twin Vaals where the 2nd one becomes "turbo" and you must kill it quickly otherwise you'll certainly die at least once (probably to that BS ball lightning attack).
The Trio with their degen pools and enrage mechanic is unfair even in Normal Atziri, and complete BS in Uber and in Vaal Temple.
And Atziri herself with that split phase and mirror clone...

The only time I was able to beat her was using my Arc Trapper in Incursion League. his damage output was broken at that time and allowed me to skip phases, while being immune to Reflect.

Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun

dang it looks like nobody actually read your post and are now being toxic. great job telling him to just get a jewel or flask, not that he addressed that already.

no wonder people don't want to play this game. it's unbalanced and whenever it's pointed out or tries to be addressed, you get all of the simps in here screaming about how the game is easy and they don't even read the post.
GGG has chosen to add content that most players wont be able to handle. Go with that and ignore it. Never have I even considered it part of the game.

These threads don't exist in a vacuum. The history of a poster carries baggage, and OP has a history of blaming the game for their own shortcomings.

Even though OP has a valid point about the game semi-requiring absolute immunity against certain things, like corrupted blood, that history will inevitably come into play as it becomes a credibility problem. You mentioned another person that has a very similar issue. They both could come in here and say something that is universally accepted and approved by the community, and still hit a wall because of their history....both the OP and the person you mentioned.

On this particular thread, I think the point falls apart a little bit since we're talking about uber content. Uber end game requires extremes, because it is supposed to push the limits of what is necessary, whereas the rest of the game you can get away with not being immune to corrupted blood. So it is not a universally accepted truth, and therefore potentially deserves some of the harsh feedback -- OP's history aside.
Thanks for all the fish!
