Keep catering for "hardcore" no-life players
And you'll end up with a game that will be barely played by 10k people, half of them streamers, and the other 12hour playtime per day, might want a little bit of fucking reality for a change?
This stupid "krangled gauntlet" bullshit is a goddamn fucking damage check masochistic killer of variety. Also why the fuck would you make it only HCSSF, the fuck is wrong with you? Keep listening only to these "content creators" and that's the only audience you'll ever get. Numbers speak for themselves. If that's what you fucking want just say it, keep nerfing shit, keep overtuning these and that, keep designing bullcrap on-death effects left to right and one-shot shenanigans. Just fucking say it: "Fuck you and get the fuck out of here, you average casual noob" Last bumped on Dec 14, 2021, 4:47:36 PM

so they should listen to people who barely engage with the game & are always complaining rather than those enjoy the game, play it a lot and also popularize the game/bring in new players? Sorry but no game dev is gonna do that, GGG is not an exception.
No one's telling you to gtfo and not play, its just in your head (or you're regurgitating opinions from reddit). If you're a average casual player then you're not the target audience of gauntlet. There'll be plenty of other events for casual players that have sc and even trade, every event is not gonna cater to everyone. Last edited by stalkingjackal#2441 on Dec 11, 2021, 11:52:35 PM

" they didnt make it hcssf. zizaran made it hcssf, because its his gauntlet, not gggs. he organised it, paid for it. if you want a different event feel free to pay ggg to set up a private league without the masochistic damage mods, pay designers etc to make logos for it and adverts, promote it, reach out to sponsors and put up your own money for prize pools, put probably 100s of hours and £1000s into it yourself like ziz did. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Having just finished the Ziz event here's my experience with it.
An absolute miserable experience, emphasising all the current problems with the game since 3.15. Yes, Ziz paid for it so he gets to choose what he wants, but GGG promoted it as part of their December events so there's a responsibility on them to provide a good user experience. They could have just as easily provided their own event and let Ziz's run concurrently for his target audience. Realistically, none of the expensive rewards were available to casual players so they really aren't a drawcard. I've played HC before and I've been playing a reasonable amount of SSF lately so I'm not naive about the expectations here. However the utter lack of drops in the campaign, next to no currency for crafting and the already overtuned damage before you add the event modifiers mean that I didn't feel challenged, I felt frustrated almost all the time. Remember events like Exiles everywhere? Early levelling was damn challenging but at least you got loot from the Exiles to help out in early game. Here, just nothing. I fail to see the point in streamers attracting new players to the game if they then have a terrible playing experience. It's not only the hardest of hard core that actually contribute financially to the game. The last two leagues clearly attest to that. All that these events have done so far in December is reinforce to me what a terrible state the game is in right now. Delve levelling was painful and Ziz event was more so. This game used to be accessible to beginners and then challenging for experienced players but now it's just poorly designed and implemented. |

yeah, i've watched a bit of that gauntlet gameplay on twitch, and i have to say it was miserable to watch, i can't even imagine how bad is to play that [censored], the fact that this is advertised among december events is a poor decision
because any new or just a normal/adequate player will get extremely frustrating experience and will see all game's worst parts at even more plain angle, such as: - terrible leveling - resources scarcity - lack of clear way of progression - overtuned mobs - overtuned bosses - one-shots - forced metaslaving, lack of builds variety, poor balancing (support gems nerfs, altho balance was far from ideal even before that) i really-really hope they will implement hard mode in 3.17 and will transfer all this shitshow and VISION(tm) to that mode, revert nerfs, let normal people play the game without constant frustration, punishment, pressure dead game bring back 3.13 Last edited by Tainted_Fate#2799 on Dec 12, 2021, 4:04:32 AM

don't play the content you don't like. I do that all the time because not every person will enjoy all the content.

I've played a few hours of the Gauntlet so far and plan to play a lot more of it after Endless Delve wraps up. And obviously it's not meant for everyone, but I am genuinely having an incredible amount of fun, possibly more than I've had while levelling in a very long time.
Every pack of random enemies has the potential to be incredibly dangerous. Every single boss fight is tense and epic, because a single mechanical mistake can cost you the character (when's the last time ANYONE died to the A2 Weaver?!). Every single piece of gear feels significant, because a random 12% cold res on some level 10 gloves can make or break your Mervail fight. It's awesome. So when I read a post like OP's, I'm genuinely baffled. OP seems to be angry at something designed to be insanely difficult for actually being difficult? Because... of course it is. That's literally the whole point. Would you go to the trouble of visiting a restaurant and ordering the spiciest thing on the menu, only to turn around and scream at the waiter for how spicy your dinner is? It was clearly labelled "extra hot" on the menu, and then you ordered it, and only after the meal arrived did you seem to remember that you don't like spicy food. What? |

Just my opinion:
Cater to the hard core players because for casuals/'players with a dare I say normal life' the gase is just not fun: Same Boring leveling. Not fun. Huge item bloat but always Useful items and currency scarcity. I'd like to find nice things, to be powerful and have fun without trading for hours, joing discords, using simulators and other 'aids'/things that help. Major deterrent at least for me. I could go on but what's the point. Currently I just check the forums maybe once per week and that's about it. Aurevoir. |
