He simply shouldn't have offered more community engagement then.

I get what you're saying but just giving us what was offered isn't that crazy of a thing to ask for lol

he did a lot of Q&As at the start of the league, these didnt happen in previous leagues so he kept his word
at no point ggg said these would go on for the whole league

the simply isnt any new info that ggg wants to reveal atm and all things from this leagues patch have been discussed

just having Q&As answering the same questions over and over again (since nothing changed and 99.9% of the complains have been discussed before) for the sole sake of having an Q&A simply doesnt hold any value

He said moving "forward in the future" it's something they are going to do so they don't run into the same problems in regards to getting player feedback before the league goes live. So they don't have the issues they had in 3.15.

That's not setting an expectation of answering 3.15 questions and then silence.

He set an expectation and failed to live up to it at this point. There's zero defense for that. Not sure how anyone can say they've lived up to it.

you seem to not understand a few things

-ggg did more Q&As as they said
-poe only changes every 3 month

there was no point in keeping the Q&As without any changes in poe

you are saying they "broke they word" by not doing pointless Q&As for the full 3 months when nothing was changing and all important questions were answered

we can only know if they failed when they dont do a few Q&As after next big patch

demanding Q&As for same questions that have been answered before and gggs stance on these topics hasnt changed is unreasonable

its like making an announcement to announce that you have nothing to announce
its freaking pointless and for a Q&A it would be even worse since it would take a lot of work and time to do a Q&A for nothing

Large parts of the vocal majority always boil down to insults, memes and are never happy no matter how much they get, so I'm not surprised there is radio silence until GGG have some concrete good news and a decent amount of it.
I would expect this is why there has been no hardmode news as they have piled all the focus on the next league as it's really make and break for them now. 2 leagues in a row have been a disaster and the worst numbers in the games' history, if we count 3.0 as its start of 'real' popularity and profitability.

Unless they are stupid I expect the new league to be far easier and far more rewarding and until there is a shit hot trailer to be shown with a bunch of good detailed info to share I doubt they'll be stupid enough to say anything, events were the bone to keep the streamers happy which has always been their top priority.

That's an interesting theory, only GGG really know if the last 2 leagues/patches have had significant negative effects on their income/player base. I hope it did at least enough for them to rethink what they are doing. 3 botched leagues in a row certainly can't be good for them.
I'm saying they offered more community engagement. They haven't lived up to it.

Whether this is in the form of a Q and A or looking for player feedback or whatever else. They haven't done so but they offered it willingly.

The issue is the next league is about a month from now, right?

Expedition changes were a joke in regards to flasks and Elemental Ailments. Glaring issues and within 10 minutes Ziz and every player that read the notes was like WTF this is a problem.

So to avoid that Chris Wilson offered ways to try and stop that from happening in the future even if it makes leagues less of a mystery and less hype.

If he offered that (which he did) and then decides not to speak to the community about what some core changes are until 2-3 weeks before launch. How much of that can they actually get a different perspective on to be like wait maybe that's a bad idea.

There are two sides to this right? So you can have a place like reddit that's a toxic echo chamber but you can also have the opposite be true where everyone agrees it's an awesome idea when in fact there's glaring issues.

I'm not saying we should have a say in altering changes being made but if there are issues they aren't seeing it would be pretty good to point them out so they aren't sitting in an echo chamber of "that's a really good idea".

Now if there are huge issues with what they are changing fundamentally how are we supposed to avoid Expedition all over again? Communication as far as fundamental changes they are looking to make. Which he told us they were going to do more of.

This is a little rambly but I'm saying that above is what they really offered. It's been absolute silence.

yep i've been watching the discourse from halo infinite's terrible monetisation. if they had communicated with players or listened to feedback it could have been avoided, same problem all over the gaming industry, devs leave it too late to explain their systems and communication/feedback becomes pointless. we can't stop the next league from being a disaster if they don't tell us about it.
@Relationship

again....

ggg did a lot more than in past leagues and no point did they state that things like an Q&A would happen on weekly or whatever basis

they promised more and they did more, just because you exspected and want more doesnt mean they havent done as they promised

if they dont repeat the Q&As in next league you can they say they didnt kept their word, but what you are doing right now is throwing a tantrum for no reason

"They promised more and they did more?"

So how exactly have they done more? They set an expectation of more community engagement during Expedition to Scourge league and beyond, you realize that right? So please explain to me how they've met those expectations they themselves set?

I understand defending them if I were being toxic or rude but you're trying to use a stand point that is absolutely incorrect.

Let me try and write out 1 simple sentence.

Chris Wilson offered regular community engagement moving forward beyond just expedition league, that's a fact.

Please point to the community engagement in the form he was referring to this league and I'll admit my wrong doing.

How have we still not heard anything from Chris?

yeah I know. Jokes aside I think the silence is a corporation thing. Like he rly wanted to talk but some other people from marketing or even tencent themselves though was bad idea.

Being the "face" of a company is not easy and most of the times is better to not say anything cause 1 bad misplaced word can become a meme. People tend to forget silence but hardly forget a meme worthy phrase

Aren't u thankfully? double it, f that guy, hehe diablo 3 good memories.

That's totally fair but he can easily just say he made a mistake and it isn't viable for him to do that.

Silence when something is freely offered to me is more about the respect for the community than him trying to tow the company line.

I don't really need Chris to give me any information, I just desperately want another Nicro00 remix music video. :)

What happened? Chris Wilson in no uncertain terms told the community he was going to start doing things like that moving forward to keep everyone updated with what is going on and get feedback on how the community feels.

Nobody asked him to do that but he just flat out told us that's what he has had planned. Now he set an expectation of community engagement and hasn't been heard from since.

Been wondering about this myself. Everyone really appreciated those Q&As. I think it is vital for the mental health of the community, as GGG absolutely suck at making things clear in their announcements, and always have 75% of people on war path because they are unclear on what is happening and why.

The Q&As worked great in clearing up those issues.

Think of it like an election ( = new league promotion = supporter pack sales).

Before election, he comes around, give everyone a firm handshake and pat on the shoulder and is all ears.

After election, you never see or hear from the guy anymore.
