I always do them. I guess I'm just patient that way.

I do all the quests even the meaningless quests. As another example, the first year or two I played the would clear all the monsters in each area. If I had to rerun through an area I would usually just run past all the monsters.

I wouldn't say it has to do with patience. More likely due to deep psychological flaws. Although, I like to tell myself that it is because I emphasis the RP part of ARPG. :-)

I used to curse when I picked up the plum or bottle (autopilot click on stuff mode), because I couldn't remove the quest item from the inv. Now I pay attention and not pick them up properly.
Did you try turning it off and on again?
I usually do them all, just because i have my own route through acts that formed through these years. Of course its not "optimal", hehe, but since i moved to ssf i stopped giving a shit about speed and bot-like "effectiveness", as well as thinking of these pixel painted stones called "muh currency" as something even remotely valuable.

Every time i level a character i do almost all side quests (the only one i skip is the one you need to go get a plum and something else)

Always do Fairgraves Act III and the Den.
For a moment there I confused the Den and Dreadthicket (which I have skipped now and then in A3).

Ah, 'tis true, 'tis true: Familiarity does, indeed, breed contempt.

I remember when all those early acts were new, and how exciting it was to explore them and pursue all the quests. Such great design, and how cool was it to have another encounter with old Captain Fairgraves in the newly-minted Act 3?

Now everyone is so jaded, it seems, and in such a hurry to rush through the acts, that anything without a significant payoff is deemed a waste of time. Inevitable, I suppose, but still a shame. ='[.]'=
