nobody has problem with only maybe 5 max out of the like 100 skill gems are usable?

Cool story. THat has nothing to do with the topic. The issue isn't number of utility skills that are viable. The issue is number of competitive and capable main skills.

Nah, the OP is talking about "usable". And if he (or you) actually, seriously believe there's only 5 skills capable ("usable") of doing most, if not all content, you're both being delusional.

YES, we need better diversity. But this whole situation is blown out of proportions. People are so damn afraid of a little bit of grind/investment into their build. So to jump on the hyperbole-wagon this thread is a good example of: If people can't really do everything the game throws at them within a week, with minimum investment and grind, "GGG aren't respecting players time".

Grind some freakin' maps and play whatever you want. If your BUILD is good, and your GEAR is good, you can do MOST things with the skill of your choosing. And unless you're deliberately picking a skill you know is in a very bad spot, you'll be able to do everything.

The OP is talking about main ( 6 linked) damage dealing skills. If you think he meant any and all utility skills as well, I don't know what to say.

You can go ahead and argue you can play any skill you want. Fact is there's a reason people are only playing like...6 of them. The rest are simply not competitive damage and/or QoL wise.

If those top 5 (max) skills didn't exist, there would be another top 5 drawn from the lesser luminaries of available skills, and the Pros From Dover would find ways to make them shine just as brightly.

Point is, all skills will never be equally useful/pleasing/effective/efficient. But there at least exists the potential for those willing to put in some effort to create a build not found on the cookie-cutter list. ='[.]'=

You say all this but you are using one of the five meta skills. I know because I'm playing it myself and I pretty much only play meta. Is a lack of meta skills causing lightning strike claws to be expensive in standard and league? Or is it because the claw is a pain in the ass to craft? Maybe both?

If people are afraid to grind it is because they know how long it took for them to get 1 ex and the offmeta build they might want to build cost 100ex +. So they might give up?

Anyway, I play mostly meta. I had 7 builds last league and I'm only on my 5th this league. It seems that the meta builds are slow to be published. Even streamers/builders are having a hard time coming up with up decent builds that don't cost a fortune. If the streamers are having a hard time, average joes don't have a chance.

I have NOOOOOOOO idea why GGG doesn't do numerical buffs to EVERY under-used skills in the game every leagues.

Just buff the damn skills until they actually get used. How fucking hard is it? Change a few numbers. It will shake the meta and improvs build diversity.

But NOOOOO GGG prefers to waste their time on releasing NEW skills even though 95% of their previous skills are unused. GGG you guys are so impossible to grasp sometimes.

An engineer can build the Brooklyn bridge out of toothpicks using only Japanese joinery techniques. Doesn't make it a desirable Endeavor for most anyone.
All the power comes from op gear. Just leveling the actual skill and links isnt nearly enough. Weird design choice that makes everyone dependent on the market or ultra lucky rng.

Lightning Strike is pretty popular this league, mostly due to a couple of streamers playing it. I wouldn't consider 5% "META", but I may be wrong here. I always play what I want to play, and never look at "starters" or "META builds". Last league I did everything but Maven with a Smite character. I changed that Smite build into a LS build, and I felt like I didn't get to play it enough, so I started with it this league.

Look, as I've said, GGG needs to buff underperforming skills. That's a no-brainer and everyone agrees. But I do not want a game where gear don't matter, and skills scale themselves (like certain META skills right now), and some showcases where FR totems (pre-nerf) and a few trap skills are beating endgame content on a 2-3 link. When THAT'S the META, certain skills will never be able to compete, because they scale off of your weapon.

The problem is most of the skills are mechanically bad/to slow.
Cleave needs a big buff.
