nobody has problem with only maybe 5 max out of the like 100 skill gems are usable?

I started this league with a self found 2h sword Double Strike raider leaning into attack speed and elemental damage. I did basically everything wrong with it on purpose and still made it to t4 maps without any issues. I just need a better sword because bosses started to take forever to kill. Just as a note, with a few of the melee strike range passives and ancestral call she was "melee attacking" pretty much everything on the screen, which was one of the gimmicks I was checking out.

Please let me know which skills you think are unusable.
It's not that skills are "unusable"... it's that many are noticably worse than others. That makes using them a personal choice and not a strategic one. That annoys some people.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. It's not a problem that needs to be fixed.

if u sat mathil or nugi down with each of the gems and said ok, solo self found new league start with this gem, go, then both of them would end up with builds that could clear deep endgame content probably using 75% of the main skills.

most skills are viable, a lot of skills are viable on a realistic budget, quite a few skills are good on a realistic budget and a small handful are insanely good on a realistic budget. this is the reality.




the thing with all this gum flapping, the gem changes in poe2 completely change the dynamic of skill use, and we are living in the shadow of that update.

a single target skill does not need mechanical help to make it clear like an aoe skill in poe2 because you will not be limited to a 'main' skill. right now most builds are forced to have 1 main skill do everything, some builds can have 2 and virtually none can equally support 3 different skills. in poe2 almost everyone playing something like melee can have a 6 link reave, a 6 link double strike and a 6 link warchief at the same time, there will be no need for double strike to be able to perform the aoe capability of reave, only for it to significantly out dps it on a single target and an efficient build will use both.

whatever they do now it all needs undone and completely rebalanced when that system comes in, so why bother? why take time away from developing poe2 to make a change to poe1 that then needs changed again when theyre finished with poe2?

what makes sense is to just make poe2 and concentrate on changes to poe1 that will hopefully pave the way and carry over into poe2.

The answer is money. Its always either money or sex and i am not kinky enough to imagine why exactly toxic rain sexie... i mean better than rain of arrows. So i say money is a safe bet
The issue isn't that there are so few useable skills. The problem is very few of them are good starter skills. You can make pretty much any skill work well enough to reach endgame. Maybe not the new uber content but most of them can do the rest.

Many skills also feel very clunky early league. Most strike skills are pretty bad starters for that reason but when you get the gear and +range stuff up and running they become quite ok.

Streamers are generally influencing what the meta will be. Streamers tend to pick builds that can do most mechanics+some bossing to farm gear/currency for their next character. That character usually is a speed clearer with HH or likewise. They will ofcourse then pick the skill that does the best job at clearing while moving and thus that skill becomes the mid league meta.

This however doesn't mean other skills are not viable. They are just "less optimal" and thus many streamers stay away from them. The viewers then think that those skills are complete dumpster and move on to complaining.

People were calling this very strong gem imbalance or better Archetype imbalance out for years.

There is always at least one guy that gets in wrong in each of those threads and reads it as people complain that game is impossible with melee skill "X".
Essentially what people mean when they say melee suck in this game is that it suck in comparison to other options in terms of budget/clear/single target/defence.

Cheapest Simulacrum 30 clearers this league: Seismic Trap, Skeleton Mages, Toxic Rain Champ. On top the toxic rain champ that essentially has the perks of a caster (gem level scaling damage with ranged aoe) has better defense than melee builds i saw this league for less budget.

The Fortify rework is a pure nightmare that we saw already plenty of complains/suggestions on reddit and here.

Coming from a closed beta supporter and so I agree too. You probably have seen a lot more than anyone here.

I wonder the same thing too.

Here and there currently, it's always TOXIC RAIN, CYCLONE, MINIONS, FLICKER STRIKE, TOTEMS, MINES & TRAPS.

90% of the skills are totally useless in this game. Did I read someone claiming getting to low lvl tier maps and acting like that is any sort of success at all? That is right where 90% of the skills stick you at the end of the day still it seems. It's ridiculous how many great and interesting skills this game has that are absolutely worthless when it comes to their intent. Especially damage skills.

As a, many, many year veteran this was incredibly sad to discover again coming back this league. What a joke the game is to those who don't RMT. Hit wall and reroll because it takes a gimmick or a fortune to make anything be able to do 90% of the end game content. I guess low tier yellows is everyone's dream game content.

Guy commenting on power creep being a problem for years is a joke. Nerfing anything worth using seems to be par for the course still. Gotta keep the gerbils trying to make designed to fail skills work.
