Scourge sucks

Let's not let this argument get heated. Here are the facts as far as I can tell:
1. In general, the mechanic is fun to interact with and has a lot of theoretical potential. 2. Rewards feel underwhelming but can also be more rewarding than other league mechanics at times and with some luck. 3. Bad drops feel bad to see and we should not be filtering out current league items as much as we are. 4. The league feels like it is missing a chase goal, similar to how metamorph did. Can we agree on all of the above? If not, please share your adjustments. No 'it's just bad' please. |

" I think a lot of the problem re: "rewarding" is that it's an EXTREMELY polarized league. The Scourge content in a map is significantly more difficult and dangerous than the generic enemies within that same map, and if you cannot virtually trivialize that extra threat you get no rewards at all. So it's not so much a lucky/unlucky system as a hard gatekeeping system. "Your build must be at least this good to ride the Scourge Coaster" or whatever. So there's not really a progressive reward system, where reward is proportionate to risk. It's just... if you can clear this benchmark, you get tons of extra loot, every single map (it seriously is somewhere between double and triple, for builds which are 100% clearing the Scourged version of every map). If you can't, you're probably just going to lose exp. We saw a bit of this back in Legion, but that was forever ago and nobody in this community remembers anything that happened before Harvest. It also wasn't QUITE this extreme, in terms of being an all-or-nothing reward system, because the Legion encounters themselves had small amounts of guaranteed rewards. So, people who couldn't get 5+ stacks in the Domain could still steadily generate SOME returns in the form of cards, currency, etc. Now, regarding point 3: this is just another extension of "rare items in Path of Exile do not drop with good mods enough of the time to be worth looking at." Adding another layer of RNG to something which most of the top players already considered too RNG to bother with is a good way to get nobody to look at it. If I'm already not picking up and identifying ANY rare body armors that drop, EVER, under ANY circumstances... why am I suddenly going to care now that they're HARDER to link and recolor, just because they have one extra implicit that may or may not be any good? Waste of my time, I'm already 2 screens away killing a few dozen new dudes by the time it hits the ground. Last edited by ARealLifeCaribbeanPirate#2605 on Nov 3, 2021, 12:35:03 AM

" Hmmm, good point. I do feel that there are some meta builds that seem to be performing better than most and are reaping the rewards. Corrupting Fever is the 2nd most used skill this league for a reason! What if the rewards were front loaded? you start off with 200 stacks and have to work your way down and if you hit 0, you get an extra scourged drop? For point 3, we need some reason to look at these items otherwise there's just no point in them existing. But most damaging to the game right now, they are a constant reminder that the league mechanic is underwhelming |

Agree and kind of embarassed i got a few supporter packs this league, i was saving for them but now I wish I dropped it on a better league as to imply an actual thanks for a good league. Oh well there's been some great ones where i didn't drop anything so karma

I feel like I've played this league before...
The "crafting" reward is items with implicits that are 90% likely to be utter garbage? You go into this timed encounter where all the mobs are overturned and you can't tell wtf is going on? The only good thing about the mechanic is creating maps that vomit currency at you? Yeah, Scourge League is really just "Synthesis 2: The Revenge" |

In my opinion, the only times I've enjoyed pushing V, is on my MF character. Otherwise I don't ever push V in a map and never touch the mechanic. Not a big fan of pushing V and then getting blown up by a default attack.
I guess scourge maps are cool? But they still take a while to make T10, you can still brick them for your builds and have to start over, and ones you can run are just not enjoyable. It's a pain to get through them. This league my fun has been either A: blasting T3 towers with the scourge MF stuff, or B: Playing non-MF like normal and never touching Scourge. |

How can you possibly brick them? From what I see you are running a MF character and don't care about deaths. The only dangerous mod for such a character is the damage when you enter/exit scourge. Still, you should be able to handle 3,000 and the moment you realize the map has such a mod - run it. My ranger can even manage to run the 1,500 life drain in scourge with proper management.

" 100% agree. The only reason I'm playing is because of the passive tree/passive mastery changes. I know GGG isn't going to listen, but GGG seriously needs to take a year, stop adding things, and polish what exists. We don't need more skills. We don't need rehashes/twists of past league mechanics. The last year has been nothing but these things. And they have all been terrible. What we do need is for the existing skills and league mechanics to be polished, especially the skills. Enumerate them all. Categorize them all. Remove the redundancies from the game. Polish and balance what remains. I would nice if we could just pick a skill and play. Now, I don't expect every single skill to be end-game viable. The game also needs to have transition skills, things you start with that transition to a similar but better skill you gain access to later in the game. After getting this done, then GGG can get back to adding new things, but only if what is to be added will be truly new or unique. Adding "new" things that are not actually new, needs to stop. For example, don't add a "new" skill that works almost identically to something else, but does more damage, thus obsoleting the original. Doing this bologna has gotten GGG to where game is at today. Bloated, with to many unused skills, etc. |

i have to correct you..
"the game sucks" here fixed. but now honestly yes i agree with everything scourge sucks but i think the issue is far deeper .. i think Scourge only really showed us how trash the items in this game.. all Scourge did was show us that your chance of picking up a good rare item is 0 if rare items were worth picking up then scourge items had a fair chance of being decent.. but the reality is in this game items are shit scourge or no scourge |

" Agree , pls don't . admit failure and dump in away . Move forward . |
