Server problems - near unplayable - can't get a stable MS
|
Hello,
Is there a problem with EU servers right now ? If yes then no need to read further. Problem description : living near Paris indicated MS = 8 on paris server, 15 to 20 on frankfurt, amsterdam, london. All of them are not steady at all. tried Moscow for a day it was a lot more steady but i average 80 there so its still cluncky to play. My analysis : it does not come from my end, i've been running multiple games with steady 10 to 20 ping maximum with no random spikes. (LoL, D2R, last epoch, rocket league, Overwatch, Diablo3...) + PC isnt overheating at all. Some guy from my guild : "If Moscow always works while the others don't it's definitely the routing problem I mentioned. There are a few problematic places in France/Germany and if your connection happens to route through those you will have problems. The connection to Moscow doesn't go through them so it works fine." im no technical pro so I dont know how i can fix that ? What I tried (and didnt work) : Steam/Standalone client - wifi / plugged - vulcan/directx11 (vulcan seems better) - windowed fullscreen / fullscreen - updated graphics driver - ipconfig renew release - all networking modes - all graphics set to lowest - i tried playing at my friends house who has a different provider still lag spikes - computer specs : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2496 MHz, 4 cœur(s), 4 processeur(s) RAM 16,0 Go NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 SSD 500 go screen + winMTR : this is in my hideout while I was writing this post server = frankfurt / its way worse in maps or when i detonate expedition encounters for example https://imgur.com/a/0ajLosV winMTR on the Paris server (i'm 30 km away from paris) https://pastebin.com/nCCpGKcR ___________________________________ I tried to provide as much info as i could think of while remaining distinct. Feel free to ask if you need to know anything else. I'd like to solve that issue as fast as possible because i'm kind of forced to play minions due to lags i had before still fine i was enjoying the game. Now i can't even play at all not heist not delve not maps (menagerie is fine though poggers) Ty for reading Last bumped on Oct 3, 2021, 12:11:44 AM

" But 176.135.254.2 is literally the next hop from your bbox router, it has 14% packet loss and 700ms avg latency. Your ISP support should be able to solve this. Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything Result: depressing mess |

" I'm sorry but I don't understand how that has to do with my ISP since I tried 2 different already in 2 different towns. If so how come I don't have any lags on any other games, any streams etc ? Still I don't even know how to adress the problem to my ISP : "Hey how come this one game I have a packet loss on 176.135.254.2, yeah my internet is always fine but can you solve this ?" + I don't even think the person i'll get on the phone knows how to fix it |

exact same problem as you mention had it for a week+ no idea what to do very tilting i have lab customers waiting...

" As the winMTR log shows the packet loss happens next to your router. All the IPs in the traceroute belong to AS5410 BOUYGTEL-ISP and only two last hops are related to "external" internet and ggg. " I don't know how you do this in France either :P Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything Result: depressing mess |

Could I please ask for a longer WinMTR log? The one you posted shows a single dropped packet; I'd like to see whether this was a fluke or a symptom of an issue. Anywhere between 500 and 1,000 packets to each hop would be great. The more the merrier, really - but I appreciate you've other things to do with your time.
---- The analysis offered by a_z0_9 is incorrect; 176.135.254.2 is a router, and as playing Path of Exile does not entail pinging routers, we don't care whether they respond to all packets or if they are slow to do so. Literally different hardware is responsible for forwarding traffic and responding to it. As the observed 10+% packet loss and high latency are not reflected in your traffic to the server itself, they are both utterly irrelevant. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

" bbox.lan is the router and the next one hop is the local ISP device. " As for a non-T1 ASN device there is absolutely no reason to not respond for ICMP requests, the route probably serves up to 1k users and it normally should have resources for that. Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything Result: depressing mess |

" unless it's running icmp prioritization policy witch it clearly is..... :) |
|
" Whether it does has no bearing on its ability to forward traffic. You're welcome to observe that and feel however about it you please, however it is disingenuous to give Macays the impression that it is affecting their ability to play Path of Exile. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.
