what u think about passive skill tree balance left and right side?
" uh yea actually, we do have it. we have a guy who is actually proficient at said topic, and we have a guy who isnt. you think this is unfair but the reality is it never was fair. just like you dont tell doctors how to do their own job, you dont make sc players tell hc players what is and isnt good in hc Last edited by yamface#1022 on Sep 17, 2021, 3:32:33 AM

" I don't think it's unfair at all; I think it's directly wrong. I can't talk about defenses because I don't play HC, but you can talk about Raider, without having played Raider in how long? Look, it's still the same game. Bad defenses and good defenses are still the same in both game modes. The only difference is that you have the luxury of ignoring defenses in SC - if you so choose. I also know many HC players that disagree with you. There's even several pretty competent HC racers calling Raider "a good choice" for HC. I know how many times I've died this league. I also know how many times I've died on my max block gladiators in previous leagues. I'm able to compare. I'm able to "feel" a character. It doesn't require HC to know defenses, even though you clearly like to think so. I really don't think I have to defend calling Raider "pretty strong" and "not that bad", but I think you are pretty far out there calling Raider - or the right side of the tree "utter trash". Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" about 4 days ago " oh really now. and im the one thats "far out there". that entire ranger tree is considered the single worst place to build hc builds yet according to you theres racers who think its a good choice... maybe if you race to lv100 ignoring all content and only do t11 maps then yea raider is amazing. people like darkee, ventrua, etc will tell you theres nothing wrong with raiders meanwhile they all have massive graveyards of dead raiders. most other racers like alk and steelmage will straight up tell you its a bad class. stop giving bad advice. raider and the rest of the ranger tree is awful. it is defensively inferior to the rest of the tree. it has the worst and least amount of keystones, it has the worst primary stat. it has amongst the least efficient pathing layout on the tree. it has amongst the most niche set of skills that make any sense to play these classes. |

Raiders pretty good, but it isn't as good as glad
blocks cheaper, life recovery on block is a thing that hoses dodge straight up. Rangers area of the tree though is definitely the worst so I wouldn't really equate the two things. Tbh yamface i've seen your SSF HC characters in the past if you put that gear on a raider with one of the skills they can crutch well enough (not many now) you'd be very tanky and only a couple of ascendancies would outperform. I wouldn't tell anyone to play raider over glad that hadn't practiced raider a great deal though. |

How much balance consideration do they actually put in for hardcore when making changes? I know GGG has touched on it a little bit, but I have never heard it mentioned that it plays a huge impact.

" the harvest crafted gear? uh i mean yea if thats the argument then anything is viable, just get 5 mirrors worth of gear |

" That's an interesting question and I see a lot of people saying GGG "doesn't balance for HC" But people don't stop to think it seems... A death is a death... it is 10% less xp, and it is annoying if it comes out of the blue especially if you layered defences. When people complain about balance, most of the time it is because they died or are dying without too much control or time to react. And it affects SC as well as HC. So I think HC will be arguably balanced if SC is balanced properly. But GGG can't even balance SC properly with their questionable patches and random "solutions" no one asked for. |

If I'm trying to simplify it down to right side of tree and left side of the tree.
I consider left side a much safer route. It has EO, RT, Glancing, MoM, more life, etc. Defensively I can make some mistakes and still live over there and have easier access to cheaper damage. When I play SSF or HC I generally like the left side of the tree. On the right side, I tend to play more reckless and faster. The characters when I play SC end up scaling a lot better with investment on this side with more crit. Evasion and Dodge to me is really kill or be killed. Trickster I feel is a real outlier on the right side. Personally if you have the patience to play raider or any ranger in hc my hats off to you. Progression wise, I'm way faster as any Duelist, Templar, or Witch. I'm much more a fan of block or MoM or Hybrid compared to Dodge/Evasion. If I had unlimited character slots everyone would see a graveyard of failed ranger attempts from low 80s to early 90s. |

" If they provided balance in that single facet, they would need to bring balance to the left side of the tree as well with crit and speed. Right side of the tree is faster; much faster. There is a reason you only see right side of the tree doing 5-Way carries most of the time. Thanks for all the fish!
