Just Curious, Why no set items in PoE?
" Yes, I know, the reason for that end-line was the result of the sentences which came before it where I describe why 'proper sets' are not my cup of tea but the concept of collecting them is. The Ceremonial Pieces could still have stats which make them wearable (but not OP) but by making them more valuable to trade than wear would prevent every man and his dog wearing exactly the same kit and prevent the negative posts about lame sets (to a degree). |

I can just repeat something that was posted earlier and noone replied to it:
Why is no one mentioning the sets in diablo 2 ?? Or are people here too young for that? In d2 practically noone was wearing whole sets in Endgame, just because they were way too bad compared to other items. As far as I know there was only one Set Item which was regularly used in Endgame, and this just because it had enourmus amount of magic find. But in Midgame and espacially at the start they were extremely practically. However do agree that SetItems can ruin the game, especially if they are handled the way of what I heard of D3, BUT I do think there is a way of making the game more interesting by adding them. |

My take on the sets question is this:
1. Sets reduce mid and late game variety in general. 2. Sets, unless carefully balanced - even more so than uniques, can set up some really broken combinations in an open build game like POE. 3. Should sets be introduced my opinion is they should be build enablers, however having worse defenses than either uniques or rares of equivalent level. an example would be a summoner set that once completed gives the summons energy sheild, resists, and added summons at the cost of extremely low ES, Armore and/or evasion possibly giving your resists to the summons. making it a serious sacrifice. |
