Just Curious, Why no set items in PoE?
Why is noone mentioning D2's sets system which got it right?
I would love me a sigon set. |

GGG is a small (growing) indie company. It costs alot of money to make a single item.

There are sets.
Doedre's Damning Doedre's Tenure Kaom's Heart Kaom's Primacy Kaom's Sign I think it has other sets too they just don't give set bonuses and that is what you most likely want. There shouldn't be any set bonuses unless maybe a small amount of extra armor/evasion/ES but you know what, its not worth even coding. Last edited by Stonegoal#5108 on Apr 7, 2013, 8:40:22 AM

" Ofc there should be set bonuses which could increase build diversity and it's worth coding it. Lvl 1 logic: Sets decrease item diversity, because everyone will get these sets. Lvl 2 logic: If there are no sets, item diversity is decreased, because everyone will just have rares/uniques --> more posibilities = more diversity if balanced. So much fail in this tread o0 |

I understand the reasoning behind not introducing sets but they are a great part of the ARPG experience. I'm sure GGG could implement them without them being the go to items for end game.
It's the one thing I miss from PoE atm! BigKnox

I just showed there are sets just no set bonuses.
" Yes, if the set bonuses are strong enough that will happen. We have seen it happen in WOW. " Crazy sentences like this is why we make short simple sentences. POE has sets and there is growing diversity every week. Last edited by Stonegoal#5108 on Apr 7, 2013, 9:39:44 AM

Why do sets have to be specfic armor pieces?
why can't it just be a suffix/prefix that can be randomly applied to any gear like any other stat? This way everyone wont look the same, yet there is still gear to keep around in case you find 2-3 more pieces to match it with. I think it could add another layer of choice in what we wear (not that we dont have enough already though). |

That what a set is.
Person A "What are you wearing to the match today?" Person B "I'm wearing plate mail with a tower shield and a long sword only one backup dagger." Plate mail normally goes on top of chain mail but sets have a visual trait. http://www.medievalweaponinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/armor.jpg Last edited by Stonegoal#5108 on Apr 7, 2013, 5:20:14 PM

I'm in the no camp for sets... in a general sense.
I agree with Wittgenstein that the most enjoyable things about sets is just collecting them to own them. In this respect it would be nice to have sets, just to add some spice. What I really don't like about sets is the all-or-nothing problem they add to a build. Either the set is OP or else no-one will use it (thereby making them a uniform (excuse the pun) requirement for all players - how dull) or they have to be just that little bit useless to prevent everyone from wearing the same thing (thereby making them liable to negative forum posts). I never encountered sets in my RPG history until, firstly, Divine Divinity, in which you could never find them without a detailed Walkthrough and, secondly, Dragon Age, when you only ever got the final piece just before the entire set became redundant due to level anyway. I think it would be much cooler if you were just able to find 'ceremonial' pieces which, if you found a full set, you could trade for an exalt, for example. |

" Thats completly different from the aspect of sets.Anyway,as suggestion, its good enough. Bye bye desync!
