Any longer Time players starting to get bored?

I think it's because maps feel too slow, but I'm starting to get bored with the league.

Normally by maps I really start engaging in the league content but it just wasn't interesting enough to hold my attention and be worth it.

On top of that, Matt progression is going painfully slow. I will be the first to admit I am not a no-lifer. I guess you could say I'm semi casual? I usually Play 3 to 4 hours a night every night trying to build up a character who can take down Sirus, which is my goal.

That might also help people place me in terms of where I am at as I am someone who is gotten to Sirus multiple times in multiple leagues but never been able to kill him just by myself.

The thing is, starting for me with betrayal and all the way up until this league, the league has kept me interested enough to keep taking swings and I enjoyed the challenge of trying to figure out a build that will allow me to do that since I'm not someone who ends up with these massive budgets. The attempts have allowed me to figure out how to get more currency although I'm not one of these who can grind 10 exalts in an hour or anything close to that.

I guess my point is even with all those challenges for a casual to semi casual player, I still felt excited about the idea of trying to get Sirus down, and hopefully from there be able to farm him a bit to build up currency to start taking on the more challenging bosses.

But starting in this league, the map grind really just got to me. Everything feels too slow and too unrewarding. Frankly it's a bit boring now. And this flies in the face of Chris's comment which I believe is generally true but not true for me, that players will stay invested so long as they feel they have an upgrade to pursue. The grind is so boring I don't feel up for pursuing upgrades even though I feel there are some I can still get.

Now I am different in that I really did enjoy the rework of act 1 and could see myself enjoying a slower Pace throughout the game so long as it felt rewarding and entertaining in those moments.

But for me, the upgrade and difficulty didn't necessarily feel like there was a payoff worth it by the end of act one, and now that I am in maps and it's really slow, it just kind of wears on you.

Now I do think that there may be some help coming. Cutting the maps down to about 100 is a good start. And I am really eager to see what the new endgame ends up being.

But all I am saying is if the game is going to continue at this plodding pace, which I do believe is intentional because the team hated the no-lifers finishing the game early and then quitting, I don't know how many more leagues I'm willing to give this thing.

They better have something really special cooked up for the new end game, and whatever it is hopefully we'll move at a brisk yet challenging pace and have a focus on replayability rather than artificially slowing people down...

I got bored after playing for about 4 hours on leaguestart.

I have tried starting different characters with some weeks a part, but I can't seem to enjoy the game right now.

I don't know if it's PoE or gaming in general. Right now I only enjoy playing league of legends, but I don't play more than a couple of games.

New World looks promishing, and I am probably going to give it a shot when it comes out of beta.

Yep. Quite alot long players are gone.
Seems, quite ok changes will be only after jan 2022. GGG is not fixing this league, and the second one only slightly. So they stay off. I have many friends whats are gone dramatically faster than previous leagues.
I've been playing on and off since 2013. Game is still fun. I nolifed hard on Ultimatum League so I expected myself to be burned out for this league, which would explain why I was playing Minecraft and some other games for a while. But then I beat the Ender Dragon and got my Elytra in Minecraft, so I came back to play more Expedition.

Expedition's a fun league, so I'll probably be playing until league end from now. Don't think I'll shoot for challenges though; I don't really care about portal effects or totems.

Its demotivating to look at what you can grind toward, and find it does 1/4 or less of the dps that it did the last few patches.

I dont blame GGG for their choices, however, in the end the player experience is more important than their vision (at least for who will actually be playing the game).

I think I will read next few leagues patch notes and see if the next endgame is interesting, other than that Im not sure what PoE offers.

I still felt excited about the idea of trying to get Sirus down, and hopefully from there be able to farm him a bit to build up currency to start taking on the more challenging bosses.

If your plan is to farm money through sirus I am not surprised that you feel the progression is slow. With 3-4 hours a day playing that game you should swim in currency, like really swim. I havent logged in for like 15ish days now, ended my league pretty much 2-3 weeks into the season, sitting on a headhunter and other gear roughly worth the same (dont pin me down on that, didnt do the math).

My point is - you need to work on your understanding how you generate currency. If I was pinpoint into farming Sirus for CURRENCY I´d drop that game/the league too. Thats not now u farm money.
Yes and no.
I do get bored quite fast once I reach maps.
But I like starting new characters, so no.

I got bored a long time ago. When I start to get bored with a game, if I like the game I rarely quit playing completely. I just cut way back.

I started in early 2014. I started racing in Season 7 and raced until they ended in 2016. I ran approx 1200 races, and was already starting to get burned out by then. By the time the ten acts came out a year later ( Fall or Oriath ) I was getting burned out for real. I had a beta key for Fall of Oriath and didn't even make it to the new content. I got to early Act 4 and that was it.

The ten acts was the end for me. I have always hated grinding through them. By the time I get to act five it's a struggle. I have to really like a league or character to grind through all the acts. Otherwise it might take me 2-3 months to get to maps, if I make it at all. Two out of the last three leagues I didn't make it to maps.

Until recently I still played standard and sometimes perm HC, along with the league. Lately I haven't even been playing the perm characters I like. My favorite standard character got nerfed twice in a row, the second time it got nerfed pretty hard. My highest level perm HC character got nerfed also.

GGG's philosophy seems to be that if players actually like a build then it needs to be nerfed. GGG is the only company I know of whose philosophy is, “If they like the product don't sell it. Drop that product and sell a different one.”

I actually like Expedition. But I just can't make myself grind through the acts. There are lots of games out there that I like. I still like POE also. I rotate the games I like. If I'm not in the mood for one then I play something else. POE is still in the mix, it's just not my primary game any more.
Feels too slow and unrewarding? But Chris said the game was too fast and too rewarding?

What is going on?

In all seriousness though, I feel the same way. I play a few hours a week at the most, usually on weekends (rarely during the week) and it just doesn't feel rewarding enough.

I didn't like Ultimatum's whole running around in a circle like a spooked chicken thing but it gave a lot of currency. So I feel less rewarded now on top of feeling nerfed. It's not a good combination for a game if it wants to retain players.

I haven't played in over a week now.

The league mechanic itself I do like. So it's not that.

The only thing making me slightly bored, is the lack of players - not regarding trade, but regarding the social aspect, mainly our guild discord. It's dead, sadly. Too many zoomers, I guess :P

The league itself is fun as hell, I think.

But I'm starting to get old. Longer and longer between games I like. Harder and harder to see a game that peaks my interest. Maybe I just should enbrace it, and start to collect stamps instead of gaming - or going on cruices, as certain other people.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
