Immortality is killing PoE
" The D1 comparison was obviously mostly for a mage since nothing is actually immune to Physical and warrior cast speed is quite slow. The point being that a Warrior could Teleport Attack, Stone Curse, Flame Wall or any other various skills with good potency to overcome their non-range downside. We must have been playing two different Diablo 2 games. Just like most ARPGs these days I go 1 main skill with a few supports. However there's one point I mentioned in the previous post that plays a big part. The game didn't get harder when they added synergy. Characters just did more damage by comparison to PoE of players being reduced. There's just about no situation on high end maps where a 4-link active skill is anything but a spoof for your main 6-link. Not playing league characters and esp when progressing maps. I agree, we're beta testing PoE2 concepts and suffering the growing pains of it but I don't think Immunity will take. There's better ways to incentivize dual skill usage. They "almost" got it with Trinity Support and the Elementalist rework. That's the big problem with ARPGs though. It's not an easy problem to fix. I mentioned myself in another post that even if we get five 6-links people would probably still use 1 main skill. Even after GGG boasting power creeping enemies is the cheap way to counter player power creep they go for the cheapest option possible, Immunity. Reducing Enemy Density will play a critical roll in making any other options work. Fighting enemies that perform special actions or change attack modes when you hit then with different damage types or attack/spells. This is how you force players to use other skills. By making better enemies. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

Let me tell you how wrong you are about the viability of a 4 link in red maps.
You are either lying or you have mirror gear to suplement that 4 link. I'm playing a RF chieftain this league and I can clear more than fine everything with it but when it comes to my scorching ray alone without the RF boost (and even with it) and being the same type of damage I'm boosting through gear and passives I can't possibly dream of clearing league content packs before they kill me. It takes ages to clear on that 4 link normal packs, imagine expedition packs. And it's not because I need better gear or different setup, it's because is just a 4 link. Now imagine same situation but with a different skill say a lightning or cold one to deal with fire immuness. No + cold or lightning gems, no cold dot multi or spell crit or multi on gear or passives because I won't build around the possibility I eveer find some shit that is immune to my attack. If I'm playing a chaos skill build I know for sure I won't be doing Hall of Grandmasters map, or if my build doesn't have a green or white socket on something to use block reduction gem. That's how immunities feel on every game in d2 and on poe, you just skip them because the trouble it would take to deal with them is so not worth your time and is painfully slow and not rewarding in any aspect. But if you like immunities so much you already have them in d2 since "almost" forever, not the case here none of us signed for this mechanic when the game was on its first stages. |

" Agree, on the poe2 showcase of skills they have planned several skills which alternate different setups like mid range and melee, freezing bolts or fire bolts and stuff like that all in the same skill which is imo a very clever and fun way to incentivice the use of more than 1 button/skill. Just remove the callouts and we'll be fine lol. |

GGG Reads literally every post rest assured.
Their data analytics is perhaps better than their game design at the moment. help em out... I have never felt further from what I know and love

" I can sign this. Elementalist was a prototype of ascendancy which had multiple incentives - stacked generic damage - could use all element portions of damage regardless type to bypass otherwise single element ailment calculation From other element combinations, there are outliers like Hydrosphere - cold + lightning, or Eye of Malice for cold + fire. Having mechanics which would make builds stronger in general by using multiple elements, there aren't that many options right now. I always bring up my great starter - Burning Arrow with Stormfire ring ... using multiple elements, even 1 immunity just directly disables my build instead of having a bypass :) I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. " Yea, exactly. It's more about incentivizing the use of different skills. I don't want to say "Combo" but it's a method that works for amplifying damage by performing certain actions in the right order. A similar situation can be applied to an ARPG. Even something basic as "Each melee attack increases your spell damage by 10%" Stuff like this will make players want to swap for those bonuses. Weaving in the perks of different aliments from different skills can make it even more interesting. " Yea, they got pretty close with Elementalist. My only issue was trying to mix Fire and Cold. The DoTs of Cold skills aren't too hot and Crit Fire feels a little wasteful. Cold / Lightning works like a dream though. I made a Cascade Stormcall + Glacial Cascade. Glacial wasn't my ideal choice. I wish there was a Ice Storm skill... But it felt really fun. ...Expensive as hell to make though. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

" Challenge accepted. This is the map I am about to run: ![]() This is my gear set up: ![]() She's rigged for Vaal Stormcall. Instead I'll be playing exclusively with the Vaal Arc I use to deliver Conductivity and gain Innervate - so a four link. The Gems are: - Vaal Arc - Hexttouch Support - Innervate Support - Conductivity Here are the gloves the skill gems are in: ![]() Here is the tooltip on my arc: ![]() No mirror gear, no influenced items. This equipment has not been considered "good" since Legacy league with the exception of the belt. __________________________________________ Now, if you gentlement will give me a few minutes, I am going to kill every single thing in this corrupt T-16 map with a 4-link. ![]() This is not hard. Not hard at all. |
|
|
I am able to slaughter the various packs quite easily with the 4-link:
![]() It was hard going initially, had to lightning warp about, since I didn't have room on the map to fade back as the monsters approach. ![]() Now that I have room though, smooth sailing... |

Got a bit cocky with a pack of worms and tried to face-tank-them:
