Too much stress losing 10% EXP per death
|
i have not died in Path of exile in past 1000 hours. i play standard with overpowred synthesis ES Gear, i have not died in path of exile once i got those
The gear is OP, my Character is built to make it tanky. My boss DPS is garbage compared to pretty much every single Meta build out there, but none of the meta builds out there is tanky as the build i play on Standard, i am lvl 100, and i still dont want to die. i play tanky builds cose it makes me feel like that the mobs and bosses aint got a chance defeating me, and for me its just matter of waiting just a bit longer than meta builds to kill the bosses. and im fine with that. i get the feelling of being powerfull by being "unstoppable" by any boss in the game, Uber Elder fight? Tickles bit here and there but not fatal unless i sit afk. but still didnt die on it first try. its not hard as people think Siriums death beam? just let it shoot me right on the face, dont care, i wont die to it, just regen it out back quick each beam hit in face. feels nice. we play how we want. you want to play zoomer with 15-30mil dps so be it. i play slower clear speed and slower boss dps, but i feel less stress and less annoyed by the boss fights, i dont need to dodge anyhting, or have quick reactions, or worry about map mods, i dont need to care about how large the pack is, how dangerous it is, jump right in the middle of it and nuke it. you see, we play how we want to, i want to feel overpowered, so i play standard only with Legacy gear whats stronger for tanking. the amount of ES on those things is more than any of the new gear after Synthesis league |

Death penalty in this game is extremely outdated and lazy. They really need to improve on it. Make it recoverable if you kill the mobs that killed you or introduce a repair system.
The game is extremely rippy and does not teach anything to players anymore. It became a death fest due to monster damage being incredibly high and they nerf the only thing that helped staying alive at some degree. You are not supposed to punish people with losing progress. We play to progress our character, to get further. Dying repeatedly to unbalanced enemies is not doing anything good. Also dying on level 97 when one T15 map gives you 1% xp is not the same as dying on level 70 when a T1 map gives you 40% xp yet you are punished the same. If you really want to stick to xp penalty then make loss xp poportional to gained xp over time. I think death penalty in some form has to have a presence in the game but not xp loss. It is sloppy and removes fun. You can't do content freely because risk of dying is too high. If you are someone that wants to give cutting edge performance 24/7 there is hardcore league for you where DEATH should matter. Last edited by Ispita#4020 on Aug 8, 2021, 6:54:46 AM

" That's what I thought, too, when this exact same discussion was going on over a year ago. Yet somehow these 'hardcore' players didn't really warm up to an idea of insta-deleting their characters upon death instead of transferring them to SC standard league. Things aren't black and while. Whole mechanics depend on whether you die or not. Ritual, for example, punishes you if you die. Ultimatum did it best - you think you are tough? Die once and you lose all rewards. So there is definitely a difference between dying and not dying when it comes to performance. Exp penalty is simply a part of it. The beautiful thing is - you don't have to lose everything but you still lose enough for the death to hurt. It is a great design actually.

Jesus christ this post got toxic. How about helping the guy/girl that died 6 times understand defences and help him/her get in a position where he/she is better equipped to take on the content, instead of just straight up belittling him/her?
No wonder GGG is having a tough time getting the balance of the game right, when people display such horrible behavior instead of being helpful gamers. We're here to have fun, isn't that allowed anymore? |

Try not to die, then.
" The title is "Too much stress losing 10% EXP per death" The contents is just complaining, nothing else. OF COURSE people make fun of this. It would have been different if the poster came from a different, more reasonable vantage point like "Why am I dying so much". |
|
" ??? Of course they do. It's called picking your targets. Know your limits. It's part of the game. I don't understand why people feel entitled to be able to roll over 100% of the content of the game. Like they need to be able to beat the game 2 weeks into league start. You should appreciate the fact that that's not the case. That there are still things that you can try to overcome, as your next goal. You cant win just like that, and that's a good thing. |
|
" That's right! Like, I never overcame the fps drop of this game, and had to eventually give up. My skill level just wouldn't allow me to beat the XP loss per fps loss at the highest levels. |
|
" Dying due to technical issues is a completely different matter which is something GGG should fix. BUT, you know this guy is talking about running content too difficult for your character, not FPS drops. You coming in here with your sarcastic comment is desperate and irrelevant. Don't be that guy Last edited by Revnaut#0808 on Aug 8, 2021, 2:13:46 PM
