On a serious note, I'll be the first to admit that my support for the patch is partially based upon what the game was originally and changed from. The actual patch does largely fail in what they were trying to do in my opinion, but I believe the effort is worth it. I think it will take many leagues to get this right. They spent 10+ leagues getting to this point, you can't just undo it in one.

If this patch actually represents what they expect the end state to be, then I agree this is problematic. But I believe it to be a stepping stone, not a last stop.

To be fair we hit a type of speedrunning meta since piety runs back in I dont even know how long ago that was.

when you got a party solo instancing to piety gathering up on the kills, that was by far more profitable than maps due to the time efficiency and rather poor map returns a lot of the time. I can't really tell when the powercreep started, I can still recall how strong void heart for example was on release, was that in beyond? that was when there still were split leagues in hc/sc right?

anyways all that shit started SO long ago, that it feels wrong to say: Hey guys we just figured out we worked against our vision for 6 or so years? (was it longer?) So now we gonna alienate roundabout everybody who came to play the game thinking we did show the direction it was going in.

Sounds like a poor april fools imo

Perhaps somewhere out there is a country that loves being slammed in the family jewels with the nerf hammer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying speed running is the problem. Moving quickly is absolutely a part of gaming and POE is no exception. Hell, there was even a group of people who did pet racing...

https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/2gqkfx/pet_racing/

It's the lack of resistance to how fast you can go in the game that became the problem. Gorge used to be the racetrack for proving how fast something would go, and it was measured in minutes. Now someone can clear Poorjoy's in less than a minute.

As you said, bosses were scary and every map boss was skipped. Orchard was absolutely famous for that as you mentioned. Now you just touch the boss to drop it and all good. Now I'm not saying that skipping bosses was a good look either, but we swapped that insanity for basically no boss by erasing it immediately.

Like I said, I hope that they start examining all the systems of this game and this is just the first step.

Thanks for all the fish!

I partially agree in terms of people building this nerf into their calculus moving forward and it will become the new normal. That being said, I can't think of a single patch since I started this game (Domination League) that was as harsh as this one in terms of change in player power, except perhaps 3.13 which was a pretty significant increase to player power. I still think this one was more extreme though because this was a hit to players and increase to monster power while 3.13 was just a drastic increase in player power.
Considering the vast years amount of power creep GGG has had to balance against, i can see why this patch would be seen as harsh. But it's needed as the power creep was getting out of hand at the expense of the game and Build Diversity.

That's a good idea, but by not nerfing monster damage as well they just ruined build diversity. I don't think they improved it in any way.

The problem isn't how fast you can move between packs. The problem is how fast you obliterate said packs. To me, the solution isn't necessarily/only nerfing our speed and movement skills, but rather a critical view on monster AND player HP and damage. But that's hard, difficult work that would require a lot of time and effort.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Russian community put tons of money in supporter packs for the last 5 years (when the game was fast-paced arpg), ...

Since money spend makes one opinion matter...I'll share my thoughts:

You guys brought that abomination over! We still have to suffer through seeing it in town from time to time :) /s

I really prefer pre3.15 (Why does Minion Damage make minion MI explosions weaker? lol) but rather than forcing a quick and dirty rollback approach (league is finished either way at this point), I can see why it might take some time to figure out a good solution that satisfies as a good compromise. That being said without any indication on whether anything is being planned / tested in either direction (for better or worse) is a bit unsettling. But I can wait until next league / patch notes before I'll grab a pitch fork and torch.

I'll wait a bit longer and see. But you do you.
