He he LOL - Epic reply. :)

But no, just wondering about GGG future now that the "money pit" may dry up !!
Maybe now GGG has to "work" to keep alive and not just, care about owners realm.....

Why do so many people think that the money flow is TenCent → GGG and not the other way round?

You are highly delusional if you think that this is the end for Tencent. For one, they're one of the biggest companies on the planet. For two, this is only going after music deals they have, which i would say isn't the bulk of their revenue. Stocks fall all the time and rebound. Tencent isn't going anywhere anytime soon, unfortunate as that is.
This nerf to Tencent is not the end, Tencent is for the true stronk hardcore shareholders :V

It's good for PoE I think, market driven policies never coped well with video game industry. It's open doors for inovation.

For the third day in a row, Chinese stocks have been hammered to the ground after the Beijing government banned companies in the lucrative education industry from making a profit. Instead, they must be nonprofit.
The government is trying to reduce the heavy cost of raising children since they now allow 3 kids per family. The more children policy is not working and one of the reasons is the high cost of education which usually includes lots and lots of tutoring. Nerfing the for profit tutoring industry is an attempt to encourage having more children. There are ongoing articles about it in the WSJ.

This is a common occurrence in the stock market, if you look at the chart this has happened before. Don't worry about it.

The only thing that will happen is Tencent owners will filter out all the "educational purpose"-companies under them to a non profit sister company. Then go on with business as usual. They are used to government interference. They probably know better than anyone how to adapt to such things.

Even if Tencent falls GGG is pretty profitabvle on its own so I don't see them falling anytime soon.

Chinese players using the chinese PoE client is another story tho...

Because that's what successful companies do, they buy up other companies just to start pumping money into them to keep them afloat.

Seriously, think that comment through some more.

right. tencent takes a share of gggs profits, ggg dont take a share of tencents profits, its completely the other way around. poe is the money pit and tencent have their hand in it.

They have only taken away the music monopolist status from the company, if you just read the articles. Not bad for a regime that still calls itself communist.

in fairness they dont actually call their regime communist, the party is called the ccp but they do not say that china itself is, they say they are in a transitional form of state capitalism. and that would be correct. for a start communism is a democratic system and china is, well, they dont seem very democratic from here.

you say not bad for a state calling itself that, but the theory behind that economic ideology is to break down a form of economic fascism imposed on the people by large capitalist monopolies that can bypass democracy and even market accountability using vast amounts of capital and property ownership. not bad for that kind of system suggests this sort of move is against the usual methods of that sort of system, when actually this sort of move against unfair corporate monopoly is exactly what you would expect from a system moving in that direction, the whole intention was to liberate society from this sort of private economic control. its our system that tends to fail to hold big money interests to account, thats why we literally name our system after money, because money is god and supersedes all other forms of power. the word state is inserted into this other economic model because in that system the state is still more powerful than the money.

people always try and claim tencent is basically the chinese government, and yet here you see the government in conflict with tencent.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Tencent is the largest company in the World's Second Largest economy.

It would be fine folks.
