No. Monopoly regulation exists everywhere in the advanced economies, including the U.S. and EU.

And Tencent as a stock corporation needs profit.

How do you come to this idea ? Certainly not from any of the articles you have posted.

In danish, don't know if they have a english version.

For tredje dag i træk er kinesiske aktier hamret i bund, efter at regeringen i Beijing har forbudt virksomheder inden for den lukrative undervisningsindustri at skabe profit. I stedet skal de være nonprofit.

For the third day in a row, Chinese stocks have been hammered to the ground after the Beijing government banned companies in the lucrative education industry from making a profit. Instead, they must be nonprofit.

activision blizzard and tencent dropping.
all hail up coming New world!
So,

being a German from the very Northwest dutch would be ok, but reading danish I understand some words, but not really the meaning.

So I found this german article(https://www.manager-magazin.de/politik/china-peking-reguliert-bildungssektor-und-attackiert-privatwirtschaft-a-88f9354e-99ca-4642-8c24-85047afc544e) saying they regulated the private educational sector with the argument to be fair to poor families that cannot afford paying a lot of money for (private) afternoon schooling - besides regular school - that seems to be very popular in China. Indeed China wants that to be "non-profit" now. Wow.

So actually these companies can continue - non-profit - as a sort of advertisement or showing social responsibility.

If this is the real reason, I have no idea - being a totalitarian state they might not want to have anyone else in there who is not on the leash of the "communist" party, just my thoughts on it.

I was not aware that Tencent is so much involved in the educational sector as well(edit: apparantly as investors). Interesting - the info was just not provided by the articles you had linked.

Anyhow I still think the step against the music monopoly would take place here as well.

Btw in the article it was also mentioned that companies are not allowed to teach on weekends, and generally no children under the age of six years. Apparently chinese children also need to be protected from their overambitious parents.

Tencent is huge. They are involved in artificial intelligence as well as many other things. Check out a video of the headquarters. It's a mini city by itself.

I know, my first association was just not education :) - was more IT and gaming, but ofc when you think of Internet based learning...
