From Chris Wilson's reddit post

"We feel that the gameplay benefits described above (plus the ability to immediately stash them in the field) justify the number of currency items that the league uses. Having said that, we hear you. There are too many types of splinters in Path of Exile. We will be mindful of this for the design of future releases."

Really, how many time we have heard that? And still they are releasing a league with 20 more currency types...

What concerns me is :
"We're delaying the release because Cyberpunk will affect players numbers"

And then :

"Player numbers are vanity"

(both paraphrased)

Polar opposite comments.

It can be difficult to take anyone serious when they do stuff like this, it shows zero direction.

I’m sorry, but it’s not Chris that I struggle to take seriously. Wanting to avoid having a dead league due to people being distracted by another game is not in any way inconsistent with prioritising their vision over CCU. This is one of the weakest attempts at a ‘gotcha’ I’ve ever seen.

While I agree with you, there have been contradicting statements over the last couple years.

Or a bigger issue, is mistakes that are constantly being made. Like countless splinters. Then they defend those mistakes, while saying 'we hear you'.

Telling someone they hear them, but then doing the same, is essentially telling them their opinion don't matter.

. No attempt at a "gotcha" was made, I was just pointing out the Chris says one thing and then changes it to the opposite sometimes depending on whats going on. Thats the very definition of inconsistent. Sorry you've made the choice to see things that way.

[Removed by Support]

I think at one point he was the best dev in the industry but he has sold it all out. Greed has produced the dying game we have now. I have played this game faithfully since 2013 and have spent by a considerable amount more on POE than on any video game ever. In the hundreds of dollars, which for me is quite a bit for a game, for others maybe not so much. I have uninstalled PC and xbox and won't touch it ever again. POE was once a good game and the devs were once good devs but that all changed when Chris sold to the highest bidder. Imagine how our game would be if he hadn't done that and POE was still produced by an indie studio that loved the art they made?

This sums it up well. Chris has proven he can be in a league of his own before and for a long time took PoE in a great direction but something happened along the lines and player numbers are dropping. I haven't stopped playing but I HAVE lost a lot of enjoyment in the game now compared to a while back.
I'm starting to wonder if Chris has just been doing this too long and lost his drive or tencent are pushing him in directions that aren't good for player numbers.

Regardless, I have a lot of love for this game but I'm feeling less compelled to play with each league now. If things don't improve soon I can't see myself playing. I just hope things get better and player numbers increase.

A lot of what you wrote here resonates with me. I've been here from the start. I'm an old school gamer and watched as games changed and started the whole in game store model. I was never in support of that feature. I like my games to allow me to acquire all my items from within the game itself, including armor models and skill effects. Something about PoE made me change my mind and I have given this company hundreds as well. Very unusual for me to do something like that.

This game offered me fun and experiences I had rarely found in the thousands of other games I've played over the years. And because of that I was more than willing to support a team of devs that could crank out such a masterpiece. Unfortunately when I did decide to support more heavily I was unaware of the transition of ownership that had been made. I was going off my perception of how it had been, and was not seeing the path that we were now being lead down.

I agree, greed does some unfortunate things to the best of us. Even those with the greatest intentions and think money won't change them, will be proven wrong when given enough of it. I still love this game though I don't agree with the direction it is going in. I skipped ritual league, played a little bit of ulti, and now skipping this league. It's definitely not due to burn out that I don't feel excited anymore. I still put in plenty of hours in other games just fine and have fun. Something is different here for me though. I still wish GGG nothing but the best and hope wraeclast becomes great again.
I have nothing againt the nerfs, but I am against how they were made.
They wanted to nerf the OP builds, they didn't head directly for the mechanics that make those builds strong, but instead nerfed what was common for most builds - so it hit the weak and strong. This is not changing the build diresity in good direction at all.
Additionally it create even bigger gap since when the content is harder, people start to be forced to use meta builds to survive.

There are some OP mechanics that weren't touched at all or nerfed just a bit. This is radiculous for me, since its totally opposite of what it should look like.

It it the same as when they posted the "Trade manifesto" long time ago. Most of the points stated in it were completly missing the point and in real life working in totally opposite way.

GGG just have own vision and way of thinking, well like every human being. I guess we need to wait and let them learn from own mistakes, as long as they do everything will be fixed sooner or later. Worse if they don't and will be stubborn about it, just because.
