Anyone that is at all familiar with the genre knows to expect some heavy RNG. Any research on the game would show that it has a lot of RNG elements... so if you don't like RNG why would you play in the first place? Its like someone going to a casino then complaining about all the gambling after being there for a while... it doesn't make any sense.
Although I agree that this game is very attached to rng; I don't find the casino example to be a good one. I hate gambling yet I like this game; the game mechanics, passive tree, and skill gems are not purely rng reliant. So telling people who don't like the current rng balance to leave is terrible.
I love the rng elements, but they can be adjusted to hit that balance between fun and grinding. That balance can be easier to hit if they receive feedback.

Thats the whole point. Im not saying the people leave, im asking 'why did you come in the first place?'
That is why i used the casino reference... if you don't like gambling why would you go to a casino? Doesn't make any sense. I guess understanding what is drawing the people in the first place has some value.

Some people here like to kill things with the vast amount of builds available.

rng is stupid i mean i play the game to have a 100% reproducable experience every time i play, this game would be 10x better if i could predict exactly what happens before it does; furthermore, it's simply unfair that some other guy can play and get items way better than me doing the same things i do. i deserve to get the best items. i deserve to win the game 100% of the time. i'm not here to play the slots, it's unfun, toxic, and pushes away new players when you have random elements in a game (and games are always about skill)
this is all entirely obvious and the developers should make the game that's fair, because fair games are obviously more fun than unfair games

I do prefer the RNG over MMO styles where boss ABC drops 2 items from a list of 10, and boss DEF drops 2 items from a different list of 10, etc. I so very much hate that MMO loot style, where a particular item can only be dropped from one specific boss in the entire game.
The only thing I dislike about the RNG is that there can be long streaks of bad luck. I'd prefer if it was tweaked slightly so that a long streak of no rares or valuable currency would cause your natural IIR/IIQ to slowly creep up until a couple items fell your way.
Just a slight tweak, nothing big.
Another thing about MMO vs RNG is this: when you find The Sword of Whatever in an MMO, it will always have the exact same stats. I much prefer the RNG numbers on two different copies of the same named item.
In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.

I can assure you not a single person here to POE for the sake of gambling.

The strawman is strong with this one.

However that is why they went to the casino, right?
Have you ever heard of an analogy? Seriously people.
What if I put it this way... you go to burger hut, you get there and complain that there are too many different burgers.... Why in the fuck did you go to burger hut? Would you then respond with... 'not a single person here to POE for the sake of a burger' I would hope not.
I just find it odd that people come to an ARPG which is obviously heavily laden with RNG and complain about RNG... doesn't make sense.

Except, this thread IS, in fact, about RNG and gambling, not about burgers.
What I' saying is people don't play this game for it's RNG, therefore it's illogical to say we shouldn't play this game because we don't like the RNG.
But again, I'm not saying that I don't like RNG at all. I know, every ARPG relies heavily on RNG, but none to the point of POE.

That's sort of funny because GGG has been changing rates of map drops as well as other rng elements. Why did they do that? Maybe because people were not happy with the current rng formula used for map drops and gave feedback about it.
