What is making people say this? There was almost no change in monsters and massive amounts of buffs. This patch made most characters way stronger.


So.. first off. We're not way stronger.. we ARE weaker.. but, it doesn't matter to me. The game's still somewhat easy while leveling. So it should be fine.

You haven't read the patch notes.

I don't mind nerfs, but I do mind when they remove fun mechanics from gems etc. :-)

I think people are also forgetting that casual players run games through steam more often than just downloading the client.

The steam numbers could just represent people who never made it to yellow maps and never intended to...not making it to yellow maps while not intending to again. Just sooner.

Not a big deal. People also need to remember that fine tuning is likely to come.

What shocks me, is that emotional attachment to a franchise blinds so many people. PoE formula is getting old, worn out, , unrewarding and repetitive.
But, hey, if you are having fun, sure, it's ok to me.
Diablo 2 is what the game was aiming to succeed.

Diablo 2 is NOT a challenging PvE encounter. It has its own checks and balances but the end game focus was PvP. In regards to PvE it was how you could break the game by becoming a superpower. The build variety was at the heart of the experience.

Diablo 2 had some cheap deaths namely iron maiden on melee in Chaos Sanctuary. Or the explosive pygmies in A3. Few and far between however.

It had the same dark and gritty feeling with a large integrated PvP experience but extremely casual PvE.

The end result was a game that attracted tens of millions.

I personally love the souls games but there are limits to such games. They have to be reasonably balanced and limited in build variety because you can't have a character reach a point of no return where their build is preventing them from succeeding. In games like Diablo 2 and PoE this is obvious. It can and does happen easily.

Contrast this with what A1 looks like now. If you run out of mana fighting hillock you're probably going to die because your flasks aren't going to regenerate now regardless of what you do. Clear the map if you haven't already. Or run around waiting for mana to recharge. This is what casuals see now and say no thanks. Hence the steep decline.

The devs have this vision of what the game was supposed to be which isn't congruent with what it is. I'm not saying the PvE needs to be as cheap and unrewarding as Diablo 2 but I am saying if your desire is to appeal to 1-2% of players that's the number you're going to have to be happy with. The rest of them will be playing games that appeal to their wants for cheaper PvE and deep character customization.
You know it's ironic imo.

The reason the campaign was boring was due to just how mindlessly easy it was.


Now people can feel accomplished completing the campaign, and they're dissatisfied.

Not only that, but the meta has been shaken up so everyone has an opportunity to discover what works and what doesn't.


The speedy meta of the game attracted a certain playerbase, and this update alienated the large amount of players who enjoyed it. But these players didn't enjoy making their own builds, or the discovery mentioned previously. They enjoyed the dopamine fix, the gambling addiction of time > drops.

Now they can't get their fix and they're unhappy. Granted, maybe a few enjoyed making their own build. But they're the outliers. The majority of these speedy meta players copied and followed builds. It's a fact; and they're the vocal majority against this patch.

Is NOT about being HARD. It's always such an easy excuse when arguing by some of you. It's just the perfect argument, because...it even makes yourselves feel good! It's about being FUN. Ask yourselves. Are you having fun , like tons of it? XD Ask yourself about your emotional attachment, I know, it's hard to acknwoledge.

Thousands of people grinding for the carrot and the dopamine that is so wisely delayed by devs. And you still wondering why you have so many splinters and so few QoLs? Why everything is hidden under layers and layers and layers of never/ fixed/RNG, by mechanics that work so well on the brain which are well known and researched by slot machines theorycists? Yes, it's part of the trick. In fact, that's the trick. GGG makes your ego inflated by the mere fact that you know the game well, you are hardcore, wow, I PLAY POE, you know? It's the best of the best, but you need to be wise and experienced. Sigh, again, are you having FUN? Because, that's what a GAME is all about. Not ego. FUN. No game makes you shine on top of others as a person. Forget PoeNInja. That ego comparison website.Think about you.

This time they pulled the string between donkey and carrot ,cough,...vision and balance,... way way too far.

So all you really end up having is playing the economy, and plowing maps. And if you want to get anywhere on your character, you are better off mowing monsters down like weeds and just collecting pennies of the ground as fast as possible than any meaningful item hunting.
