Now that I don't have the time to play 2 to 8h a day for 40 to 60+ days in a row on poe to achieve end game in a league, i just moved on on other hack and slash.

I think this is a lot of people's problem. You can't compete in a hardcore game's time challenged environment (3 month trade league, or any 3 month league). You have better things to do. That's great for you and your real life.

You can still have fun in leagues or in standard. No need to act like the game is 'broken' or the devs are bad because you and your schedule don't fit the mold any more.

All these streamers people compare themselves to do this as their full time job. Of course they play PoE on 'hard mode'. That's what end game in PoE really is. It's the equivalent of any single player game's 'hard' 'nightmare' or 'insane' difficulty level.

Does anyone boot up Dark Souls and expect to beat the game on the hardest difficulty in an artificially imposed time window while playing 30 minutes per day? Does anyone install a MOBA and expect to play casually but also play at the highest ELO levels?

Only PoE seems to have this standard of 'if I can't beat the hardest version of the game while playing sub optimally AND casually simultaneously, then it's the game's fault, not mine.
Well, GGG are the ones that set a three month window for the League and if power players finish everything in the first 2 weeks but average players can't engage with the League end game after three months then absolutely, that's poor design on behalf of the company.

Players used to be able to engage with everything back in the earlier leagues before the game became a bloated time sink. Also before power creep was out of control.

I think it's also important to read the room. While each league has a fair amount of "Boo, you ruined my build" (and with varying justification) the player response to this league (or rather the heavy handed mechanic changes) has been unlike anything we've ever seen before. A bunch of players didn't just sporadically get together and say "let's cause unfounded trouble for GGG just for shits and giggles".

There is genuine substance in the profound disappointment among a large number of players. That it doesn't significantly detrimentally impact some players is not the point. An empathetic person can still recognise how something can be a negative experience for someone else without having it be that way for them.

It doesn't matter where they set the window - some group of people will 'not have enough time' to complete all of their goals. There is a mode for those players - standard.

And your 'bloated time sink' is someone elses fun content tail, see:

Killing half the early journey through the atlas, removing 64 maps out of the game (temporarily), losing four regions with their own identities. Why are you cutting my journey? My content? So bad slow players get to say they have a completed Atlas faster?

Reading the room died when players cried wolf every nerf saying their nerfed build is 'dead', 'deleted', and all manner of other nonsense hyperbole. I can count on one hand the amount of builds GGG has truly killed over the years, and a couple of those were very very niche unintended interactions. I find, having read thousands of posts, that this 'substance' you speak of is more often than not 'fluff'.

I can empathize with people - that doesn't mean I have sympathy for them.
Goodbye everybody. I've got to go. Got to leave you all behind and face the truth.

I think we get it by now. You're playing on a different level to a lot of players, and there's definitely a cohort in this same bracket. I've been saying for some time now that the game should be able to accommodate a broad range of players and that nobody needs to lose out here.

The players are not at fault here, whether you sit on the side of "I need a more challenging game" to "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined" it's GGG who allowed the power creep to get out of hand and they also poorly executed the first significant attempt to address the issue.

Anyone can point to the extreme ends of the positions and claim that the statements are ludicrous and do not bear scrutiny, but it is quite clear from the player abandonment for the league that a significant proportion of recent players believe there is a problem. You can dismiss this outright as players being too soft, but it doesn't make it any less accurate.

Define 'accommodate'. I believe players are generally accommodated, and that it is their fault in situations where their expectations for success (and goals) don't match their knowledge, experience level, mechanical ability, and build choices.

I've watched brand new players as recently as this league muddle their way to white maps with very very scuffed set ups. In my opinion that is winning for that player at that experience level. And if he plays again next league I expect that he will get farther because of everything he learned. And getting farther next league will mean he's not 'losing out'. You can only lose if you're competing with others. Too many self professed casuals seem to insist on comparing themselves to and competing with players who are out of their league on all axis of comparison.

Instead of stalking me, check the numbers. POE is dying!

Are you one of those guys that thinks, if you defend the game you will get better drops in POE??

no, im just the guy laughing at the fact you made a "game sucks i quit" post 4 weeks and you are still here playing the game.

theres always ups and downs in the player numbers. the numbers for this league would be perfectly normal 2 years ago, the game was really healthy 2 years ago. almost all the people who stopped playing this league will be back within the next couple of years and a whole load of new players will be along with them.

you know why? because not much changed, the game is still 95% the game it was 3 months ago, is still the best arpg ever made, ever will be made in our lives and the people going crazy are over reacting. thats why they will be back, thats why you are still here. you made this post and you couldnt even stay away just to make a point, you deeply invested yourself in leaving over and over again and yet couldnt actually stop playing for a month just to make you point.

instead youre making my point.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I would like to personally thank all of you for the good experiment!

It sure has been interesting seeing how people respond to other people's posts.

Let us have a little teaching session now shall we?

Lesson 1 - Perspective

People are different. People have different perspectives.

When a person says "I quit", it is not a statement of complete and total resignation.

Lesson 2 - Degrees

There are multiple levels of things. There is a scope.

A person can say "I give up!" and still come back to something.

Lesson 3 - A'holes

There are people that are a'holes and cannot comprehend anything.
