Voicing my disappointment with removing half the Atlas next league

Killing half the early journey through the atlas, removing 64 maps out of the game (temporarily), losing four regions with their own identities. Why are you cutting my journey? My content? So bad slow players get to say they have a completed Atlas faster? So they can go ahead and do some currency strategy faster? Why should they? Why are we rewarding bad, lazy play?

Incredibly disappointed if this idea goes through. It seems like a badly planned placating move to hold you until the next Atlas rework in 3.17, which by the looks of it will be much shorter to get through.

Last time you tried to score points with these people you made Harvest core and we all know how well that turned out. Reminder you can't go the other direction with this without backlash and whining.

the last time GGG too something huge out of the game they brought it back in a different incarnation and like 3x bigger...

or conversely Fortnite was pretty great this season
I have never felt further from what I know and love
I’m expecting this thread to get casually flamed out of existence. I don’t really mind there atlas becoming smaller per se. I had it virtually finished inside a week with a now very sub-par starter build and a full-time job. But I definitely agree that placating to the angry mob never goes well in the end. It’s just a highly-vocal minority. The vast majority of players aren’t on the forums complaining nonstop, because they’re enjoying playing the game, itself. Or they’ve stopped playing at this point like they generally do every season.

I am of two minds on the subject.

I think the Atlas is fine as it is for standard. You do it once, and you have lots of options to explore when one map gets old.

For the Beta league, it seems a bit overwhelming for most players. You have much less time, and it just seems a bit tedious to get the map farming up and running.

Ideally, if it were up to me, the "full" atlas would be available in standard, and the 100 map condensed atlas would be placed in beta-league, so players have an easier time completing it and farming.

I would also do something similar with Heist and other prior league content like syndicate. Condensed versions that are easier to complete so the beta-league players can focus on the new stuff - rather than running through an ever-expanding to-do list of things you "need" to play the game.

For Standard, having the really in-depth Heist, Syndicate, Delve, Beastiary and Atlas works fine, since you're not under a 3-month timer, and it's not standing in between you and the newly added content.

For example, we leave Standard as it is, while "In-Beta:"

- Syndicate - when you unveil a syndicate member's named prefix it gives you exp toward every enchant they can give. Same for suffixes.

- Normal veils give 100% exp on the skill you unveil.

- Anything gated behind the council is just found in the course of the game.

- Delve crafting recopies should be no deeper than like 80. You should be able to snagg them by the time you hit maps.

- I like 100 maps - use all the uniques, with a rotation of the regular ones.

- Heist rogues should gain exp twice as fast.

- Heist rogues in league should start at level 2 in their primary skill.

- Up the drops rates on heist rogue equipment by 50%.

- Change the weighting in some of the more desirable heist gear mods to make them easier to roll.

Those changes right there would help the beta-league players get what they need so they can focus on the new stuff. Which is one of the big draws of the beta leagues.

Cutting down the atlas is a wired one. After torching the very top- and low-end i can't see how shortening the length would have an impact.

As of now it's basically unreasonable to go through map tiers when there's not much of a goal. And low end is even worse, amplified by gutting mechanics in campaign after a certain lvl threshold.

A similar thing was killing loot identity and sprinkling drops all across wraeclast - what kind of "improvement" is that?

Mby. it's some sort of bandaid - but a bandaid at least treats the symptoms.

The game is to freaking big for casuals they need to do it.
Where was this announced? I usually don't watch videos, so I haven't been keeping up with those, and I don't seem to see any text news posts about removing half the Atlas next league.

I didn't like it either, but the fact remains that everything feels very unrewarding right now EXCEPT the highest tier of content.

So people feel like they need to get there asap and hence this band-aid solution

I wish they did something instead that'd make earlier mapping feel more impactful.
IMHO, this is one of the things you need to wait and see how it feels. Atlas felt too large to me personally. So I may enjoy the cut down, although I have some concerns.
