Now that POE is destroyed - I must find another game to play. How is Guild Wars 2 comparing to POE??

I'm currently playing ANNO 1800 - it's a different genre but a lot of fun and I've already invested 150+ hours in one city. Shortens the waiting time until New World and D2R :)

I think we are in day 11 now in this league. According to steamcharts, there are 53.000 POE players right now. Is that normal comparing to past leagues?
also, recent reviews are marked as "mixed", i've never seen that happened before

the game is in a deep crisis
i really hope devs will revert to 3.13
or allow 3.13 voided private leagues (with flashback mods!)
dead game

I posted this earlier today in a post, but it seems like this is the topic where I should have done it in:
Hi there, also old player and a used-to-be-GGG-supporter. Been here longer than this account. I remember I started when Dominus was end-game (pre-scion-release). Back then the game was actually hard, yet enjoyable. The community was small and great. There was a lot of communication from GGG and we actually had more fun together then nowadays.
All the years of game-progression made the game more casual and the playerbase grew exponential. Don't get me wrong, it was/is still a difficult game if you aren't able to read, refuse to read or don't use your brains to look things up. Even though the game became more casual I actually liked where the game was going. Each league I got excited, prepared builds, reading what others were going to do and planning with (in-game) friends. All of them are old players btw. Unfortunately many of them stopped or didn't want to play the league.
I wanted to experience myself what other people were talking/bitching about so I decided to create a character and take it really slow. Result so far: I am actually trying to enjoy it, but I just can't anymore. Even my OP builds in Standard are not enjoyable, even if I still destroy mobs. The league and Standard feel empty and boring for the first time in all these years + my friend-list it's pretty much empty. The few that are still playing told me that the league is "dead" already.(eeeek)
Maybe we need to get used to the changes. However... If GGG didn't want the game to go in the direction of pre-3.15/3.14 then why implement this "power" into the game years ago? Then again... When you look at it from an economically perspective it was the best way to get a larger playerbase. Now saying that this is not their vision is just an extremely weird excuse to me. If you don't want something to happen, why implement it in the first place? Maybe it was only meant to get more people in and make more money so they are able to do what they eventually want. Do I smell a trap here??? XDXD (I'm just speculating here.)
This game is not made for a handful of players that think that the game should go the way they like. Everything has consequences! Unfortunately this is something most people lack to understand and can't see, or simply refuse to do. I read many posts of people that loved the patchnotes and the gameplay the first week, but now whining about issues they ran against and blaming other builds for example. They refuse to recognize that the patch caused a huge drop in the playerbase, refusing to recognize that the game is slower, yet expecting the same results pre-patch.
@Tainted_Fate : I love the idea of a 3.13 private league! I'm pretty sure I would stay there for the rest of my game-life XD.
(I'm old, so that wouldn't take too long XDXD)
It's great that GGG has a different "vision" (for whatever that even means), but I am one of the many that enjoys the power-creep, dumping many exalts in a build so I can destroy mobs, spending many hours of research, etc, etc. and that won't change. I have a feeling however that this "vision" of GGG will kill the playerbase, but only time will tell, I can't.
For now I'll take a step back from the game and see what the future brings. Obviously I'll keep an eye on the forum since I'm not a big fan of Reddit.
GL to you all, enjoy whatever you do/like and don't let others tell you what you're suppose to like nor to do. ;)
You have outlived your usefulness I am afraid, just like i did. Best thing to do is wish them well and mosey along. forums are quite entertaining at the moment, so you can spend some time here while you search for someplace to game.

HAHAHA. Yes you are correct on everything. Forum is also entertaining indeed, hence I'm still here.
What I simply cannot understand is that some people are defending the game-state so hard that it make them seem like religious fanatics. They refuse to step outside their feelings because the game was not in the state they liked. Only their way of thinking is "the way". If someone else makes a valid point, let's ridicule him/her, etc, etc. It actually makes me a bit mad, but it seems like this is how people are nowadays. ("The future")
Ce la vie.

Removed Headhunter by making it too damn hard to find.
Removed fun chase items, again, by making them so god damn expensive or literally just nerfed (deleted) from the game. Making something expensive is the same as deleting it for 99.9% of players, so why not just delete it?
Ruined character build development by removing harvest crafting. I want the ability to carefully, thoughtfully, plan my build to beat the challenges of the game.
I'm 100% PROPONENT of increasing challenge, but ONLY IF I'm able to thoughtfully, carefully, plan my build and work towards it via deterministic crafting. I'm 100% opposed to gamble crafting. Leave gambling to div cards and random drops. Stop putting gambling into character building! That's totally insane design. You think I want to gamble with my character build in an ARPG? That's so outside of reality, it makes your company feel out of touch.
I've played almost 3,000 hours on xbox, and about 3000 hours on PC. I go back to Perandus league and played a few hours in beta, not really though.
I'm not interested in this gambling simulator where build progression is locked behind 0.01% playerbase playing 14 hours a day. My build can only do early red maps unless I play WELL over 40 hours a week and farm currency non-stop to buy items. Why not let me harvest craft, or something better than harvest craft?
It was FUN. It was POPULAR. Why take it out of your game?
I've spend 85 hours in this league, and am still not going to spend anymore money on supporter packs until I can see that this game's VISION includes people like me, who like to build characters, brainstorm characters, work methodically toward our dominate the end game goals, and have some way to craft our way, build our way, to that success without spending so much damn time. I played 40 hours a week... and it's not enough??

Harvest may have offered power that was fun to chase, but it made the problem of trivialized drops even worse. .
I disagree.
Poe's item game got bad the moment GGG started gating desired mods behind specific content.
NoooOOOoooooo you can't get that minion role its an Essence mod .. or its a temple mod.. or its an influence mod or is anymod but a mod thats in the core drop pool.
ALL of the mods that make rares special are craft only or have a stupidly restricted drop criteria which render the odds of finding enough of that mod naturally to beat poe's frankly obscene layers of rng effectively zero.
that is why drops are shit.
harvest had little to no effect on that. If anything harvest was a short moment in poe's history where i cared slightly more about ground drops because .. i could utilize harvest to turn those 100% shit drops that have that 1 mod i want .. into something i could use.
Now that the utility harvest provided is either gone.. or once again so obfuscated to such a degree that only people who play the game like a job have access to it.. all of those items are back to being worthless to me.
The fact that they keep eliminating the bandaids without comprehensibly addressing the festering wound underneath is baffling.

this is what happens when developers have their head stuck far up their *winkwink* It's sad that they decide to kill the game after nearly 10 years.
