Chris addressing Reddit, elaborating on manifesto.

When I'm writing to the community, I usually try to avoid saying what is fun and what isn't (as it's quite subjective), but we are very confident that the new Path of Exile is going to be more fun. There's a wealth of powerful new builds out there to discover and we honestly can't wait to see what you come up with.

Exactly the problem. "wealth of new builds". But.. people will always figure out strong builds.. to do what? Pick up annoying currency, splinters. And what are you gearing up for anyway when there's no endgame. Annoying technical issues, cumbersome tasks.. lottery based rewards. Do you gear up to play this crap?

Do people complain that much about character builds?
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

It's nice to see that NOW, after 10 years of total control over development that they finally get to do things their way and make the game they really want to make.

So, was Chris lying in 2.4 when he claimed he had a vision for Path of Exile, or is he lying now in 3.15 that he has a vision for Path of Exile?

Which is it?
Sarcasm dude. He obviously thinks we are all stupid.

lol

Ultimatum sucked, it's not fun, it had no rewards, you needed gear from t13 maps to do T5 Ultis deathless, and running in circles is not a game muhcanik that I've seen anywhere else.

Nope, it was rewarding and if you have stayed longer in t5s you would have got enough fitting gear.

How could they have overseen the aurabot stuff? Looks like they try to come up with perfect future proof solutions or some creative ways that aren't solving the issue like flasks.
People fall for this damage control thing, still? come on..

Which already is not right considering what the ultimatum fiasco and how they LITERALLY pay streamers to play the league and on top of that to have queue priority and who knows what else has been going down under the table for years..

Then

The direction Path of Exile was going in over the last year was breaking player records but wasn't really leaving us happy with our own game.

He says that THEY werent happy with the game, not the majority of the players. THEY the dev's themselves.

We try to be very cautious and to care about your experience with Path of Exile.

Clearly this wasnt really well thought if they are making changes making the way for 4.0 too many harsh nerfs in a single patch when you're going to make further nerfs and have the same cycle every league..

And here's where things for me start to get sketchy..

He says fun is subjective which is true but then he insists that THIS DIRECTION THIS VISION will make the game fun.. fun for who? for people that want turn based arpgs? How is PoWeR CrEeP a bad thing when the entire game is casino/wall street simulator? there's no grow in power unless you get currency, lucky drops or know what are you doing with the crafting system.

And finally

So, you're unhappy and we're unhappy and that means it's really time that we start to correct things.

So you're unhappy with the game and the rest has to pay for it. Some will enjoy this changes and it's amazing I hope you enjoy the league but the rest? are they being throw into the same direction that "we're confident that this will be fun" fun is subjective.
You're taking "this time" that the community is unhappy to piss them off more? why?

The rest is just leddit things I honestly don't care too much.

But man there's just no sweet words to deal with this.. you want to do the right things? buy or create a time machine because I'm sure some players arent going to tolerate how dev's want to put the game back in beta state.

TL;DR: Dev's fun > players fun. And keep paying.
Don't be a poe stan. Use your fucking brain.
Chris may be a nice person, but it is not enough to make a friendly face in front of the camera every three months by means of an announcement video. What counts in the end is the performance, which is delivered and this has been miles away from the customer's wishes for years.
lol the babyraging continues unabated & people wonder why GGG don't bother communicating with people via the forums any more
"You want it to be one way, but it's the other way"
We are a vanity metric. He made a game that made him enough money to be able to say that he is independent of his players' opinion and he's now working for his muse. Thinking about it, that's like a painter selling his art for years so he could finally retire and paint the thing he wants. However wondrous and terrible they are.

Keyword in my interpretation is "retired". If he's done with serving our interests for money, then we should be done with him, unless our interests happen to align. Which they, for the maso boomers, do.

Boo at his stance about aurabots, like saying "we know they'll be the most sought-after shit in the patch that's meant to nerf 80% of builds, life isn't fair"

the developers do what they think is best for the game wich is an absolute good move, just look at wow and what happend if they do what the community wants. from an already casual game (2004 standpoint) to a game that basicly is getting played for you nowadays with more and more casual stuff and allowence to see everything there is cus you know, i pay 13 bucks a month i am entitled to see everything. it happend because community got what they wanted, wow is currently dieing (because it killed itself) and this time its actually not even i quit wow and now talk bad about it. anyway i drifting off, poe devs doing what they want for theyre game and not doing what community wants is (for the most part) a good thing.

also this tread:
