Damage from monsters is too high
" I like how his PoB says like 3 million DPS. Yeah ball lightning seems off by an order of magnitude in PoB. More like 30 million he's doing. Git R Dun!

I agree with OP.
All the arguments against boils down to one thing. People with years of experience and knowledge and too much time on their hands. All these 6k life and 2k ES builds that is thrown around as examples, is not achievable by any relative new player and only by long time average player, like myself, that can't play 16 hours a day, but over 5 years and 3k hours have built up enough knowledge to make it. I bet vast majority of people in PoE playerbase, don't make it past A4 Sirus. So with that in mind, I agree with OP. Game is top heavy and majority of players never get to experience any end-game. Overall, I think that is a bad strategy. Especially now that GGG is owned. The overlords will expect a certain level of retention and growth. That will not happen by just catering for 'Streamers' and 'no-lifers'. "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. " There is a Calc for Ball lightning available on a spreadsheet somewhere i've got a copy of it in my google drive but just to plug your value in you do 36mil if you have 50% area and -29% slower proj... So frankly you could get it significantly higher anyway as thats just base values most of them have. |

" Why should a new player experience all end-game has to offer? That would leave no room to improve and get better at the game. Makes no sense. New players either quit or become veteran players themselves. There's no game design reason to cater to new players. Only money driven ones which leads to an eventual unsustainable community. It's a revolving door of players into veterans who quit because the game lacks challenge. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

" So you buy games / spend money on games, knowing there is no way you can experience all of it unless you spend 5000 hours on it ? That explains everything. "There he goes. And yet hundreds of thousands of people play Dota 2 for example, a game you need hundreds of hours to learn. Maybe the challenge is simply too addicting but the fact remains - they do.

" You can't compare this in any way to that game. They literally spoon feed you all you need to know in DOTA 2. What build to use, what skills to use, recipes step-by-step to follow. POE is nothing like that. The learning curve is stupendous. People who fail to get PoE, go play Diablo 3. Those that can't manage Diablo, go play Dota. "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. So, if they put easy to understand guides inside PoE instead of having to look for them the 2 games will be at the same level

" The problem is ignoring the intense hyperbole of this answer that metrics consistently show that having a hard game doesn't prevent growth. Your previous answer mentions that they won't get consistent growth by pandering to streamers/no-lifers yet that is their entire success story. Its also very important for a GaaS to prolong content for as long as possible, its very easy to sell people on another spin of the wheel when they have new content to approach in new ways. The idea of "experiencing all" of a game is a misnomer, what you've done is taken a specific element and indicated to yourself that you think its part of the experience while selectively ignoring all the elements you haven't done, very few of us in very few games experience everything and in the case of PoE the actual physical boss content which I suspect your referring too is accessible to anyone as long as your willing to accept you don't know enough about the game to make your own build so follow someone elses instead. tldr - difficulty sells, games not that hard if you follow a guide in SC |

The damage comes from the maps/delve/heist mods.
Try some t16 ultimatum with any of this mods: Phys as extra (any element) + sextant (any element) Sure you're going to tell me "but you idiot you don't stack damage taken and extra phys on top" yeah sure.. but oh? arent we all playing "softcore" according to some people here? When did the normal mode of the game switched to almost hardcore that you have to be constantly pay atention to what map mods you're doing and what sextants are doing in order to play the current league content? Another proof of selective memory from the poe community, they buffed the monsters several times over the past leagues and did nothing but constant nerfs to players. If this league isnt opening your eyes regarding how map mods needs balancing at awakening 9 / 158 then I have nothing else to discuss here. Don't be a poe stan. Use your fucking brain.
