Flasks need a complete rework. Zizarian nails the problem:

Other suggestion: (probably the way GGG will go in the future) nerf all flask effect by 75% less effect and introduce key binding in the ingame options to allow 1 button trigger all five flask slots. I think china realm already have this.

auction house, auto-pick-up pets, one button flasks. Chinese server implemented all functions that many people think those're QoL, but GGG still deny them.

I suggest GGG should implement them for 1 league to test. (auction house, auto-pick-up pets, one button flasks). If it is bad, you could just cancel them.

Deny them insistently just with your imagine and hypothesis. It's not the scientific spirit.

Just no..... that sounds awful.
A better option is to make flasks even MORE powerful, but you can only have one or two flasks active at a time, making the player pick and choose depending on the situation which flask is needed.

Dynamic meaningful player choice = good.
So for this league, because I decided to really punish myself when I wasn't even intending to play at all, I actually have managed to push through to T16 maps. It has been a miserable experience that gets less fun with every step, but I have a point to prove here before I shelve this thing for good. Regardless, one of the biggest barriers in my path right now is the simple fact that I just don't have the dexterity to handle five keys like this, my fingers get lost between them. I can hold onto three, which have become my utility "IV Drip" flasks, but when I have to reach for the life flask or, god forbid, a skill hotkey I lose my place.

Again, this experience of reaching endgame, I must stress, has been the least fun I have had in any video game of my entire life, and I don't know how people play like this. It is misery. And a large part of that misery is how utterly tedious and cumbersome it is to have to dedicate half my focus to making sure I am hitting the number keys every 5 seconds.

The absolute minimum they could do is allow macros. I don't know how to set one up but at least it would be something. If they were willing to put in a small amount of work they could give us macros in-game. Ideally, a total overhaul would be better, but I know GGG at and I know that they would just make flasks useless while not moving that power to anything else.
This is a buff™
"I know GGG at and I know that they would just make flasks useless while not moving that power to anything else."

Really? There's literally been about a 500% increase in player power in the last 5 years.

You mean like they did with Harvest? That went down really well with the community. Everybody was very understanding when GGG decided it was too powerful.
ikd much, I only have about 15000 hours of arpg experience.

Back when tqit was a thing it would be ideal if a build got to a state where you just generated so much hp that you die from nothing.

personally I would think yes 1, base values of items needs a bit more oemph

but added, I would much rather propose more item slots.

arm guards that could also be uniques.

earrings and idek how but they could boost your base crit value.

the thing is the pace at which poe happens flasks work good kinda

but if you had to hit mobs a few times before they died

picture a lvl68 doing t13 maps mob hp but the mobs has t3 damage so to speak.

what gets me is the 1 shots when I have 5.2k hp

yes im melee

however if you have arm guards that give you 3k more armor or 1.5k more armor even or even just 500-1000 more armor because obviously the passives tree will be a huge omega boost to a base of 3k
maybe just balance the armor boost them by about 20% then add arm guards too, and earrings for crit, this would make crit a standard in poe, inconsiderate of bleed poison impale and ele dmg.
then 1 slot for 1 mana tonic and 1 slot for a hp tonic, and those fill over time, not charge powered
ye thats my take on it
go to play D3 , D3's way to use a flask you will like and no complain

Just because PoE's version is broken, doesn't mean that playing a whole different game with an even worse flask system is the solution.

Lol whens the last time people used flasks when they called for it ? Some still do but of course youre gonna be fucking slam pianoing your flasks because your broken build doesnt need an HP or Mana Flask and you can just piano your taste of hate/rumis/witchbrew/quick silver/bottled faith/etc. When you have uniques that give that give the best of everything it makes it pointless to have any sort of flask management.

Also to hit on this part about keeping flasks up all the time. Yes, you were. The end game meta before they started making all these busted unique flasks was to roll charge on crit flasks so you could sustain during boss fights and harder content. Obviously that becomes kinda dated when you one shot things but back in the day the end goal for any good build would be to go crit, that was specifically for flask up time.

I can agree on general clicking for currency but flasks were one of the skill components of the game.

Also flasks definitely were not stronger than they are now besides the legacy Rumis, Vinktars. Outside of those the strength of flask nodes/crafts, etc is stronger than before and theyve even introduced stronger flasks like Cinderswallow and Bottled Faith.

Flasks are an issue because build power creep is an issue, this isnt inherently a flask problem. When you dont have to manage anything at all, of course youre going to pick up 4-5 unique flasks to piano LOL.

TL;DR - Power creep allows you to use Flasks for Passive buffing rather than skill based utility use. Its not actually a Flask issue.

When everything dies in one hit and managing and correctly utilizing flasks no longer matters of course youre going to go down the route of "well i dont need health or mana flasks so i guess ill just use 5 unique flasks because they offer passive buffs and massive power increases at no cost to me or my build".

You need to watch more SSFHC racers too 100. Those dude aint running around with cnders and bottle faiths, They are running basalts and other defensive flasks so they don't die. Flasks maybe too OP but I look at them as another skill you gotta master expecially in boss fights where they are not infinite - dont spam too much, hit right ones and other good management. Flasks are fine in a general sense just a little OP. But they already been nerfed a lot. Used to be you could get 100% all res including physical with ToH. Then nerfs to vintars rumis etc.
