your Game is frustrating

and does not value my time
it does not matter if i play 1 hour a day or 12 hours a day (i actually did 12 hours a day in delve and delirium) i wont get rewarded for it with any good items and no matter how tanky i build my characters (actually trying hc builds from time to time) i still get oneshot in under 1 ms which i also cant react to

the visibility in poe is like nonexistent
in 99% of the time i have no friggin idea what is attacking me or what actually killed me
why is it even in the game if i have to avoid it by simply not putting any chisels and alchs on my maps? running it white and taking years to find upgrades or currency to upgrade my gear makes no sense and actually leads to the conclusion that "you" GGG and the game simply does not value the time of a mid-core gamer

i've seen chris likes to do manifests
so why doesnt he explain on how much average time we need to spend to find good gear, what builds we need to play to not rip in 1 milisecond and "how" to play the game so it doesnt feel like a punishment to grind for gear/currency to buy gear

i understand its a hardcore game but where am i not hardcore enough for that game? am i not avoiding content enough? didnt i study every boss mechanic? every rippy metamorph combination?

all of the fanbois can trashtalk me now for that but diablo3 did one thing right
it rewarded players from time to time and not let them grind for weeks getting nothing just only 1/10 of the currency to buy the gear pieces they need

i wont start with the death penalty because i realized that the problem isnt even with those 10% exp loss on death it is more in the core of the game

i know i know no one gives a single sh*t about this or me leaving the game again and coming back next league only to realize that nothing changed

Well straight-up Diablo plays better than POE.

In terms of actual gamepeplay and visibility it is miles ahead. POE just has way more endgame, build options and variety.

It hasn't gone stale the way Diablo has.
Define "good" gear. Most people i see lately complaining about gear have good gear but feel entitled to getting 6T1 multi influenced items on demand.

After coming back after not playing for 4 years i honestly couldnt disagree more when it comes to the time value or gearing statements. Gearing is definitely easier than before especially due to the new crafting systems.

I dont feel like im wasting my time mapping endlessly like i used to.

I can map, do trials and walk out with something decent every time. Whether that be a unique item, well rolled or usable rare, or currency. I havent felt like ive wasted my time playing this game whatsoever this league, especially between the ability to directly target farm things.

The ability to target farm is definitely the best part and on top of that, i never feel like im stuck target farming one thing because its better than the other.

Some days i do Temple runs, some days i do Betrayal runs, sometimes i do just maps and target farm specific things there, some days when i have lots of time ill do everything and just swap when i feel like it.

I could see a complaint for "too much to do" but too little and all of it being unrewarding ? I cant agree with that at all.

I think you should take a break and come back later on if you dont feel satisfied with the game. I left POE 4 years ago because i wasnt satisfied with the direction of the game, came back this league because it seemed pretty neat and like a good time to learn before POE 2. I feel the game has become significantly better, its definitely the best version ive played and itll probably be the first league where i make multiple characters rather than just playing one.

Outside of that the only thing i can suggest is to simply watch videos on crafting/economy for the game. Thats what i did when i came back and i already have great items, some of which are better than anything i had been working on in Standard League.

Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

im glad it feels that way for you
i think i'd say the same if i didnt play it for 4 years ^^. by good gear i mean some decent life/es and res
i dont expect to drop like 6 t1 mods and all being perfect its just i stopped picking up yellow items in general because i know 99% of them are trash and not even worth picking it up
also the 1by1 pickups is a pain ... we finally need bulk pickup
its not about how much i clicked on the screen to pick up scrap or whetstone
its about how much i got in the end, a dude on my friendlist said
"bro dont pick up anything like scrolls and stuff like that you can buy that with exalts if you need any" i was like ok then whats the purpose of the loot?
others have to pick it up for me so i buy it one time and never again?
lol
i think you get my idea :D

that is what boggles my mind
how can a game which hasnt been significantly updated like poe still can be better than poe gameplaywise?

Imo personal opinion but just my playstyle, you should definitely pick up and ID. Two reasons why.

You could get a good item you can use or sell, or you simply just farm currency by selling for Alts/Augs/etc.

A big mistake a lot of people do is they see other not picking up items, i assume thats coming from the fact that people watch streamers virtually not pick up anything. Streamers are playing a different game and doing different farming methods outside the normal gameplay most people experience.

You can definitely juice up your maps and do the same but i doubt youre doing that as well and you probably dont have the intention to play that way either.

Ive capped out my currencies quite a few times already this league and i usually always do every league outside of exalts and mirrors. I generally end up with a few hundred exalts of items by the league end but the game is for sure different now.

The problem i see currently is crafting is soo good that theres no reason to trade, in turn, no ones picking up a lot of items or selling mid tier progression gear because its a waste of time by comparison of crafting or target farming and just buying it from someone else themselves.

Trade impact has been rough for me as a seller who really enjoys trade but when i read up and learned more about the new crafts it explains why my currency generation through trade is pretty dry. No one wants decent non-influenced items for starters for a lot of reasons but because its either "i can craft my own, or i can buy someone elses really good craft", theres simply no market for other items. So in a sense theyve effectively killed itemization. This pretty much forces you into a position of currency farming which i dont agree with.

Ive found a ton of decent or good non-influenced items or items that dont have a meta mod. Theyre worthless because of that when normally theyd sell for a lot in any other league in the past.

The list of frustrating situations is gigantic, ths is part of the design (punishment / reward system in psychology = addiction).
im not a hobo to pick up garbage.

The big problem is the lack of clear feedback on what went wrong.

Crafting has the datamined affix weights, so we have clarity & understanding there, therefore people get frustrated with it but they don't call it unfair. And mostly they keep repeating that addiction cycle.

However the actual gameplay itself has a very poorly designed feedback loop. You can get ripped over & over without having any idea what's going on.

When that happens, with no clear explanation, players will blame the game.

And, frankly, that really is the game's fault.

The game needs to provide a loop with information to react to - if it's not, you might as well play with the monitor turned off. PoE isn't that bad... but at times it feels like it's one step short.

TL;DR: Crafting works, despite being grindy, because the game shares information & reinforces the addiction loop. Gameplay does not, cos the game doesn't provide a clear feedback loop and risks breaking the punishment/reward cycle.

This fact + performance issues should be the focus for GGG, I think.
Everything else can be disturbing, but this is the core of any arpg game, I think.
obey - consume - marry and reproduce - submit - watch t.v. - trust the internet - conform - do not question authority - sleep - buy - do not think - die

"one thing"? diablo 3 is just abandoned so there is no new content, but as a game, its better than poe in every possible way.

extremely good performance, graphics, smooth and silky animations and the best combat flow, meaningful progression, adventure mode, 50+ builds to play or you can take any skill you like with legacy of dreams/nightmares.

no trading, no rmt. its on completely another level compared to this mobile-style casino that doesnt respect your time.
