Petrified Blood = no more random one-shots?

I don't know the details, it might even be broken

BUT

Mobs, unlike players, can shotgun.

You also have to consider that rares can buff each other and I doubt you had a white map.

It was a blue map with two not-terrible mods. Nothing that would have granted more phys damage as element or anything like that.

I honestly don't remember what they were though I would not have rolled those kind of mods on a T14 anyway out of principle.

Also the mob was alone. Nothing else spawned in at that moment so it wasn't buffed.

Case in point is my latest rip. Glad lacerate in a T14 map ritual spawn with charges type. Status immune. 70% block attacks/spells.

Fated Blood in my prophecy tab. Coagulated blood spawns, gets a couple power charges and insta gibs me with nova. 5500 HP to 0 in one hit. Crit of course (sound processed). I know it was nova because projectiles would have failed to hit me with such high block. It was also instant.

So I look at the damage of this mob on PoEDB. Nova deals 1603 to 2504 Physical Damage.

Ok, so what is the base crit multi for these mobs? 1.3.

Assuming the high end of the nova 2504 * 1.3 is 3255. I was at full life. That crit shouldn't have killed me. I also had very good life recovery this is how I knew it was a one shot. I was fine and then I wasn't.

Basically either run crit immune or something ranged from a very long distance away. Or don't play hardcore. They won't acknowledge the bug but it exists I assure you.
From looking at POEDB it looks like there's a 150% damage multiplier and i assume that comes from it being a unique monster, so maybe that is part of what pushed its damage towards being able to one shot you?
also 5500 hp is very low for modern day POE......

5500 hp can be much tankier then someone with 8k hp. just depends on your actual defenses

"Defence" (keyword) in-game means ES, evasion and armor. Stacking them may somewhat help, but the true defensive layers would be block, dodge, over 75 capped res, or damage reduction source like Flesh and Stone sand stance, Fortify (pasive skill used to have % phys damage reduction, but axed by GGG) There is some niche build that reduce taken from crit. Also no indication the guy that said the game is broken has a very tanky build that stack the things i said.

The mob in question has two notable attacks. One is 3 projectiles and those should be absorbed by 70% spell block. The other is a nova which is certainly what crit and killed me.

It spawned in the ritual, got 2 power charges and nova'd. I died instantly. 5500 to 0. Dead.

There's no way 3 random projectiles all hit me with 70% spell block. I also heard one hit, which was a crit. Not multiple. It was the nova that gibbed me.

That math is in there. Besides if it's actually 1.5 not 1.3 it's still not 5.5k.

He was no pushover. Yeah 5.5k life is not very good for T14 but he had base 70% attack and spell block. He had bringer of rain so he wasn't armor or evasion capped but he did have blind. Also rolled blood & sand.

Maybe PoEDB has the numbers wrong. Maybe the nova hits for more than the 2.2k it has listed for ilvl 82. All I know is it one shot me and it made an audible crit sound.
POEDB is not reliable on raw damage number from monster. The monster damage actually scale with area level and way many other monster and area mod .

6k shot is not that uncommon.....
