ive played LT till 93 (CWC with Arc)
LT has a big problem and that one is called 'no AOE'. people would play LT if it behaved like the skill Eradicator uses. but we get a wimpy version of that. it looks weak, it has no reach and the numbers dont really compensate for that
and you end up with a skill you pretty much HAVE to pair with explody mechanic to reach a decent clear speed. otherwise you have no clear and CWC has a startup lag
if you stack cluster jewels like crazy youll get usable AOE but.. no damage, life etc. so that is not an option. explody or bust.
and we have arc+archmage for that. any spell that cannot be used with archmage is by definition garbage as you miss out on everything mana stacking gives you for free
root cause here is archmage and mana stacking but the result: LT is a skill that is 100% not worth touching. and to play it for fun - it lacks AOE above all else
there are more skills like Tendrils, made obsolete by outside factors. because these factors wont be changed (mana stacking casters are absurdly powerful since 2019?) skills have to be adapted to these new circumstances. more damage, MUCH LARGER aoe, updated visuals (the new visuals make this skill look gimped, sorry)
Agreed. There was a thread about numeric skill buffs a few months ago where we talked about thus - at least some skills could absolutely benefit from numeric buffs, which include things like aoe, speed, projectiles/chains/branches, whatever parameter could be adjusted.
And this could be done with minimal dev work. I don’t understand why GGG doesn’t do it - I truly believe they are underestimating the positive impact on player retention that refurbished old skills would have. Even without new graphics, knowing that lightning tendrils was actually powerful/less clunky now would certainly push me to make another character in order to try it. That means more playtime, which is what GGG wants.
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.
