But yeah i wouldnt be surprised if GGG flagged popular streamer accounts for better chances for the sake of making the game more appealing/making the viewers actually play it.
What some of these people get SSF is absolutely disgusting lol. Despite putting in insane hours, they tend to get chase uniques very very early within the league compared to the general player. Feels like it sometimes at least.
Have you looked into QAnon? How about Flat-Eartherism? I hear the pyramids were made by aliens.

Be here, simply put, upon character creation, there were items in loot tables completely and permanently unavailable. You could see how/where people would then take this. Why would that have been a thing to begin with? To control drops of specific loot, you simply disable them upon character creation based on rng assignments? Imo that's brutal from a player experience standpoint, even if you try to explain it from a developers economic reasoning. It's lazy, and there are better ways to balance (not that this has been GGG's strong point anyway, but thats a whole other thread)
As I understood it, delve progress was/is character specific, so your character being part of that equation/seed is only natural, as an identifier - to separate all of your characters with unique progression. Furthermore, the fact that certain fossils were unable to spawn/drop/whatever was a bug. It wasn't supposed to happen. That code wasn't supposed to be there. And I also understood it as being random as to who were affected by the bug. Seeds are still being created in the mine every time you enter a new "area" - every load screen.
Question from a user:
"
Do you feel the fact that this is even possible may mean there's something wrong with the way RNG (seeding) is handled at its core? I dont know the specifics but as a player it's kinda scary to know it actually works this way.
Answer from Chris
"
No, there was a specific bug regarding chests in the mine (as they have to be seeded based on what mine it is, and that was broken).
Item and level/chest generation elsewhere in the game is not done knowing what player it is (just broad values like IIR).
Sceptics will take this as a half-truth. The conspiracy crowd will take it as a lie. Dumb people will still actually believe that GGG alteres the drop rates based on who you are. But still, why we should "Never Forget" that they made this bug pass through testing, and fixed it a couple of weeks later, is a strange thing to say. I have so much to remember in life, I can't possible find place for this.

Emmmmm..... I dunno. I think the RNG "discussion" is like a lot of the ones on these forums. There is no middle ground. Because the discussion gets conflated with the presumed intentions of ggg or other political conspiracy culture or something? There are some conspiracy theories that are valid... Retrospectively, when they are proven. Conspiracies by definition require at least a couple parties to be working together. So, a theory that ggg is working with streamers is at least a conspiracy theory. It is a dubious theory and without ggg or the streamer flat out stating that it is the case, it relies on a lot of assumption and anyone getting unlucky drops would have some serious confirmation bias...
On the other hand, the idea that a company would work with a promoter to showcase a desireable outcome in their product is not at all that unreasonable. Why not? Companies do this all the time. Videogame companies tailor a reviewer's to demonstrate the positive parts of their game. Looking at CD Projekt here....
I don't think they are manipulating streamer's accounts though. There would be a motive I guess, but no. I just don't think they need to, the RNG is in place to allow someone who plays a lot to get lucky, there are a lot of streamers, the forums are less likely to have people getting really good finds even showing up etc. etc. I can't prove that obviously, I just doubt it.
I do think that there is a good case that ggg is manipulating overall loot tables throughout a league without saying so. I've never seen much regarding how they control loot tables but, their optimal player state is that people stay in the league as close to the end as possible. The league cycle is what jumpstarted the game to begin with. It's free to play, and they gotta sell mtx. Basically, player retention/league duration is most optimal to their survival, telling players they nerfed a drop-rate, or buffed it is a bad idea as well. Explaining there drop rate and rng in general is a worse idea than not. It's a trade secret and so on.
I would imagine that being a business and having a bottom-line and all, they are probably looking at some metrics related to drops. Too many good drops and everyone leaves early because there's no carrot to chase and too many bad drops and the carrot isn't worth it. So adjusting that accordingly as a league progresses makes sense. That's not really a conspiracy because there is no collusive element. Which, I think some people on this forum seem to be confusing with a conspiracy.
Dunno? Stopped playing this league. I would guess though, there is some middle-ground where they are able to do more active adjustments than people might think without it being the sort of Cabin in the Woods type experience that it feels like when you're having a bad day....

knowledge, time and efficiency. you gotta appreciate the difference between going after items that are targetable or somewhat common drops, during very long hours, with very high efficiency, vs just randomly doing maps after work for a few hours
also it makes no sense to increase the drops for streamers in order to attract players. if more drops meant more players, why not just increase the drops?
Thing is i usually hit endgame earlier than most of the HCSSF streamers, simply because they play HCSSF and i play softcore trade and take a few days off when a league starts. If i didnt play trade i wouldnt have gotten a shavs this league for example, despite running T17 100% deli maps and what not.
The point is im not blaming anyone for not getting enough currency. I made enough and quit the league already, but many streamers get some of the key gear for builds very early all while playing SSF. This rules out the point of "just play more" if i dont get stuff like shavs 1 month into the league despite running some of the hardest/most profitable content available for more hours over the span of a league than anyone could have played in like the first week of a league in total.
Why it makes sense to attract players over streamers' content and not simply increase drops for everyone? Thats an easy one: stuff like this is currently common practice for tons of games. Increasing chase drops for everyone would devalue stuff even more though, thus leading to players quitting the league earlier than they already do.

Man that made me cringe. Always taking the easy way out in a discussion makes you look real stupid. I hope you know there is no real randomness and GGG is a company looking to make money. Considering how other games/some of PoE mechanics handle drops its not irrational to at least think and talk about the drop-system in your favourite game huh?
Dont know how you think thats even slightly comparable to stuff like flat earthers.
Im not saying there is necessarily stuff like streamer RNG, but after all none of us knows how drop chances are really handled in PoE and i wouldnt be surprised if there are some determined-drop mechanics. Even if it doesnt apply to only streamers.

I am not a streamer and got a Shavs in one of the earliest maps this league from a Ritual-Encounter. Guess you´re just wrong ;-)

People believe they increase their 6-link chance by standing next to Kuduku and offering him rare currency and other 6-links.
People believe they are more likely to get a good result from the double corruption altar by doing similiar things.
People also will happily believe streamers get special treatment through altered account drop seeding, only to cope with the fact that they perceive their RNG is worse than that of people highly dedicated to the game, hence playing a lot, and doing the right things.
And foremost they will ignore streaks of bad RNG and only see the highlights. Give me a break.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

you know there is a div card you can target farm for shavs. Thats how you get it in ssf. Farming it as a natural drop is crazy
